Arch Type & Skills:
"It costs less skill points to learn a skill that is based on a statistic your detective has a high value in. For instance, if a Very Charming detective wants to learn Interrogation, it will cost them 7 skill points to learn it, however, it would cost a Very Tough detective only 4 skill points."

Note: That's the reason why a tough and smart guy usually have skills from this two types available to them first. It doesn't mean charm skills will not be available to them or charm skill is useless for them. Just imagine if a Very Tough detective can't buy any Smart skill! He won't be able to do crime scene search on harder cases.

I brought up this issue because I used to assume that a tough and smart person will just buy skills of this 2 type since the 2 types of skill may be available to them earlier than the charm skill. So when answering some questions, I just look at their Arch Type and answer "you are tough and smart, so try getting equipments that enhance tough and smart" This will be misleading if another newbie with Tough and Charming arch type read it. He may misinterpret it and go on to buy all the Charm and Tough skills! The fact is, as a newbie, smart skills is compulsory but you only choose EITHER Tough OR Charm skills. Never both. So maybe both sides who ask or answer questions may like to take note of this. No offence to any one :)

For those who can't find it, the help section is located on a link at the top right corner of the screen, right next to 'logout'

Okay, here's a secondary question.

When I do favours how can I get the grateful person to give me a bit of equipment that has either a smart or charm bonus rather than a tough bonus? About 4/5 (or more) of the equipment I'm offered is for tough stuff, and I don't have tough skills - is it because I've already got tough stuff so the programme assumes that I want more (in which case I guess I could just try selling it); or is it because I'm with the Dies people rather than Socrates or something like that (I'm seriously considering trying to change the affiliation if that helps), or is it just randomness and I'm unlucky; or is it part of the game that most of the time you're offered equipment that doesn't suit your archetype, and it's done that way to slow the gains down?

It's quite maddening to be offered gun after gun after rattlesnake hat but not stuff that I would actually find useful.

According to official answer: it is random. BUT being someone who collect tough equipments, I can't remember the last time I had a tough equipment for reward :) So only administrator know the answer. I really don't think it got any thing to do with your political standing. Mine is The Order. The Special equipments they provide are mainly Smart but the Special skill they provide is a Charm Skill. I think what Ben(admin) trying do here is to let us help one another to get the best equipments. A thing you can only do in an agency:) So, if you are not subsribed yet you may like to do it TODAY! :) Lots of fun waiting for you in the agencys here.

Thanks,

I guess at least I know that it's not just me now. Oh well. No, I'm not in an agency because I aren't subscribed. (I'm not subscribed because (i) 3 cases a day already use to too much time (ii) I'm very wary of giving my credit card details over the net and getting a cheque in US dollars would mean paying rather more in bank fees than the cheque would be worth in the US.

It might be fun though, I'm tossing up the idea of getting a US $10 bill and just posting that. Easily the cheapest option.

Using pay pal is safe. Which is what this site uses.

However, Ben accepts cash too.
