Hello,

The old email address that we used to receive new avatars is now so overrun by spam as to be pretty useless.

So, from now on, please send any pictures you would like to use for your detective avatar to this address:
sleuth.avatars@gmail.com

The rules:
1) This offer is only open to current subscribers.
2) Portrait photos only. No cartoons, illustrations, full body shots, etc.
3) Try to stick with the style of the game.
4) We reserve the right to refuse to post avatar images for any reason. The most common reasons we refuse are:

It can take up to six weeks to turn around avatars, so please don't freak out if you don't hear back right away.

If you sent an avatar to the old address that has not yet been posted, please resend it to this address.

Thank you! (And thanks to the volunteer avatar wranglers who help get these prepared and posted).

Guess I should appologize for bringing up this rather trivial subject, but well...

So, Ben...is this issue officially dead?

I would like to know if we will or won't be able to ever get our avatars updated also. Thanks Joey for bringing it back up. Maybe someone will answer who has some authority over the subject.

I think its safe to say that we wont see any new avatars until Admin gets around to them, and no one knows when that will be! All we can do is keep checking here to see if there is any word from Admin.

I still think the computer system should be made so that we can upload our own photos, admin can scan and simply click yes/no and viola! *JZ talking in his dream*

That's a great idea. On Myspace I can change my avatar so it sounds like it can be done.

Have to slightly disagree with you, Joseph and PP...as such freedom in uploading avatars could affect the game's image. You couldn't stop players from uploading any kind of image and in any collor they might see fit. I feel like keeping them as black and white portraits is a good idea and can only be maintained by allowing a limited amount of freedom for the players in this regard.

Anyway, there were posted several ideas about the subject in the past and I think some of them are resonable enough to be considered, but as long as we can't even get a yes or no to a question, I doubt a game update in this regard can be considered an option.

As far as what 'is safe to say' and 'all we can do', thank you for pointing out the obvious, Lady Jas. That was particularly the reason for which I addressed the question to Ben.

As long as the system doesn't keep my subscription active for another day keeping checking "if I get around that day" to extend it, I find it hard to just sit on my...couch and wait for a miracle to happen.

So, I'm doing the only thing I can do: ask politelly. And I'm also considerate enough to his time to ask a 'yes or no' question, for I could ask 'when, why, how, how come...' etc. It's obvious Admin reads regularly the boards, so I find it hard to believe his keyboard is so damaged that he cannot put in a 2 or a 3 letter word.

Not total freedom, read my post again Joey. Admin (or mods) still need to scan the entries and click yes/no to the uploaded avatar (meaning, the avatar cannot be posted in public before they green light it). Anyway, i don't even know if the computer program can do that, but it is a suggestion. sorry if i'm beating the dead horse LOL.

I do agree that Ben probably have read this, and from my limited experience here with Ben's character, i am guessing this means Ben is working on something but it's not the time to confirm anything yet. Otherwise, he's just not the type of person to say no when it's really a.... no. I think the old timers are a better judge of that.
