(sticky post)

We've officially lifted the non-disclosure agreement for testers who have been taking part in the closed Sleuth : Shades of Mystery beta tests. I'm hoping a few of them will post here with some of the impressions so you can all get a picture of where the game is and where it is headed.

I'm sorry it was necessary to ask them to keep their mouths zipped up until now, but I didn't want anybody to get wrong impressions about what the finished game will be like by basing their opinions on an early version.

Also, we will be switching to an open beta test very soon, so everyone who is interested won't have to wait much longer before trying things out.

My impressions....

Need a server clock display

A button that takes you back to the neighbourhood

More choices in the avataar creator - as available in Yahoo perhaps??

Apart from these few points, the game is really excellent, and addictive enough.

Another suggestion regarding the camera angles (I don't know if any change can actually be made, but this is just my suggestion) - There are quite a no. of flash games that make use of rooms and such stuff. But they use stills as opposed to moving camera, and the player clicks on a flashing arrow if they want to face another wall of the room.

I have to agree with needing more features for the avatar. Most all the women look a lot heavier than I am in real life. I would like a few more thinner options for variety's sake. Plus the noses are all too huge. A lot of the eyes look really angry/squinty. The end result is an unnatural and angry look. But, I thought the pictures were ugly at the beginning of this game, and it was soon changed by our avatar submissions.

The actual game, however, is sooo fun and addictive! I already love it. The end result being that the ugly faces are a small price to pay for a lot of fun.

I'm not sure I understand about the "heavy" thing Happy. Most of the options I saw were very thin.

I agree about the noses. They are either huge or significantly distorted (crooked). Maybe that's the Admin's fun with us ;) I found one that didn't seem to be too crazy in need of rhinoplasti.

I don't have anything negative to say about SOM. It's completely awesome. I haven't been so intrigued by Sleuth in months.

I must say I really like SoM. The agency thing is a bit confusing, but that is to be expect as not all things are available yet and half the fun is finding things out by stumbling upon them! I said this on SoM, but I'll say it here too...I really LOVE the fact that you can send a mass message out to everyone in the agency instead of having to copy and past the message to each person. As ninic, I don't have anything negative to say about it either.

SOM is a bit booring cause you lose 2 much time waiting to interogate suspects and in the houses sometimes you have to wait a long time for the game to load (lol some rooms may never load!).
Also it seems that if you have intimidation high then you need no other skill !!! With 12 intimidation you are the king even if all other skills are 0!!!

Music on the other hand is great !

Excellent comment Ciara !
I will perform a ceremonial occult act just to worship your magnificent knowledge. I hope that you will allow me to call you 'Inspiring Mother of all knowledge' during the ceremony !
Also my beloved Princess of Illumination could you please share with me your noble secret of achieving 750 experience points in 488 days (1,54 xp per day)?

My impression: This is so, so, sooooo amazing! I only discovered it yesterday, and I must say I couldn't be more addicted. In my opinion, you get more involved in the mysteries vs. the Sleuth noir. You get to investigate first hand, actually look around for clues, and I have to give it 10 million stars out of 10. Looking forward to being glued to my computer screen!

I had a little dabble with it, think ill stick to what Im learning over on the other side. Cant manage the two and just love the original Sleuth.

Felt like I was just faffing through SOM with out really having a clue where I was going or gonna end up. The sickness thing didnt make me wanna stick around long either.

Stick to were im safe and healthy I think :)

But hey GOOD LUCK with the new game Ben and your admin team, I wish you and SOM all the very best.

Oh and I second the fact that Ben is just one man, albeit a god, so is good at making him self 'go round'.

The help and assistance I have received from him just lately has been second to none, and I have pestered him some, believe me :-)

Brilliant Customer Service given. Thank you !!!!!!
