Question:
I have been reading message boards, and trying to learn what is now available since I subbed. The first thing I want to do is be able to store some gear. I don't play consistently enough to be on a team(agency). Am I thinking this right-I need to rent an apartment to keep stuff in?

One more question:
Storing cases- is this storing "cases remaining" from one day to the next if you can;t play them all, or is it something else?

Thanks!

That's one of the perks of being in an Agency, yes, along with storing extra gear.

As for your first question, there's actually two options available to you besides signing on with an existing agency. One, as you mentioned, is to purchase an Apartment. This can be a bit of a problem, though, since the minimum price for the smallest one is around $80k (a price many people can't afford 'til they're well on their way up the experience ladder). The second option may be a bit more viable for you. You can choose to start up your own one-man, bargain-basement (literally) Agency to simply store equipment and the odd case or two for a rainy day. Prices for the bottom-of-the-ladder agency headquarters start out under $5000. The disadvantage to these, however, is you MUST maintain money in the agency safe to keep your business solvent. Go longer than 2 days with no money in the safe, and everything in your agency goes *poof*.

As to the second question you have, yes, we're referring (usually) to any cases you may have leftover that you cannot get through on a particular day. Apartment and Agency case files can store a varying number of cases, depending on the size of the agency or apartment's furniture. Agencies can also be used to switch cases back and forth between agents, to help each other out when someone has a problem (this is the 'usually' referrence I had above).

I think I get it now. While still learning, rent a little agency and store stuff. I didn't notice the hefty prices on the apartments- no way can I do that. I guess I was thinking real life- have an apartment before an office, but I am getting it now. I am beginning to see the great value in agencies- this is an involved community. Can someone who plays inconsistently be part of an agency with others? Thanks for the help, and I like your bio!

There are agencies here that have easy-going 'attendance' policies, so to speak. There are others that prefer to have people who log on religiously. Agencies are just as varied around here as people are.

You might try posting an ad on the Recruitment Board, and see what happens. There are usually quite a few agencies looking for people, and it's a good way to introduce yourself.

Glad you like the bio! ;-)
