Hello All-
I am a relative newbie and I have literally spent the last 3 hours trying to read through threads so please forgive me if this has been proposed already. I appreciate all comments.

Also, I hope this is in the right forum....

If/when a detective finds a bloody footprint, you can determine if it's male or female blood using a simple blood test while you are in the field. If you can already determine it came from a heavy or slender person (Advanced Footprint Analysis) , one more test is all you would need to do.

I know this game takes place in the 1920's-1940's, so genetic testing was available--even if it was in it's infancy.

You can make a pregnancy test (or something like it) purchasable with some skill points under the "Smarts" category.

Part II

Another idea I have is to have weapons as a part of the crime scene. In other words, the killer left in a rush/panic and left a bloody knife. You can then lift the bloody fingerprint and, like the handwriting analysis, determine if the person was a righty or a lefty. You would leave a heavier print on a murder weapon with your dominant hand. You can also add ropes and then the sleuth will have to figure out if the killer tried to cover up by making it look like a suicide. This would be a great twist especially in the case of a really neat crime scene (the experienced killer) or if the body was moved.

Since detectives can purchase guns from certain factions, I think, they can be added as murder weapons too because I think sleuths during that time could test for GSR.

BTW wasn't around in the 20's...

No need to tell people off for missing the time frame, it's easy to do. I do think someone had a case of over CSI'ness and there are more appropriate games out there. I alsoa gree if you've only just started playing youshould play mroe before ideas get put on the board, you never know, there's probably already something ebtter but you just dont know it yet.

Way to go Jordan, Your free to express you're opinion on these boards no matter how new you are, cases youve solved or what some of these idiots say.

You have been polite and friendly, and that should be repected.

Need more people like you, Annika and Dave around this place, who give respectful replies, and stop those who say things like..........

'I do think someone had a case of over CSI'ness and there are more appropriate games out there' ,

and

' please keep your trap shut until you have the cojones to back up what you say'.

Talk about putting new comers off............FS

Bigger Mac<---As a relative newbie too, I have taken some time to read through some of the newbie posts and I am still unsure of this game's time frame. I was under the assumption we're talking about Prohibition Era b/c you can rent out a speakeasy as agency space. Just a thought.

While I don't want to come off as racist, would African-Americans have been able to be sleuths in the first place? Just wondering now that I think about it and the fact I have a Black man as my avatar.

Even if it would be a programming nightmare, I think the weapons are a cool idea. It can't be as daunting as running this whole site and inserting the programming code that randomized so much of this game's platform.

Cheers all @)----------------------------- Long stem rose for anyone who wants it.

The game is set between 1920's to the 1940's. I'd look up the link, but I creak too much when I get out of my rocker now a days. :)

... and baby makes three...

yep 1920-40's.

Moses after doing a bit of googling I came up with more than a few hits for Noir / Gumshoe / Harboiled detective fiction involving african-americans as a detective in this period. So all is good.

Thanks SS.

Jordan, back to the whole pregnancy test thing......I think someone was asking what you were thinking and I may be able to shed some light on it. Were you thinking that you could do a quick dipstick test? If that's the case, that would be interesting, but what if you got a minus sign and not a plus? You'd kinda be outta luck--but I see where you were going with that though.

Great great idea dude!! I think that would be a great addition you could buy from one of the factions. I know one of them sells a chemistry kit so that could be an addition. I think maybe also it could go into the new SOM version as a part of the "Very Smart" archetype like with the disgraced doctor you have here.

This is fun. I am loving this game and I like thinking like a real detective.

Unfortunately, guys, you're still gonna need a rabbit for your pregnancy testing. More advanced methods didn't come about til the '50's, again (funny how so much of this stuff was invented or improved during that decade, huh?).

Hassenpfeffer, anyone? ;-)

Sorry I really didn't get past the first line of that wiki article:

"A pregnancy test is a test to determine whether or not a woman is pregnant."

Thank you Capt. Obvious.
