Skill Point Tips?

Hi everyone, I've been here just over two weeks and I'm trying to absorb as much info as I can, haha.

I'm trying to find ways to get more skill points -- I want to try the harder mysteries and I don't want to have to quit too many cases because I don't have enough evidence, or people keep clamming up. I know you can do favours for townies & factions, and read books (at least I think I remember getting a skill point for the book I read), but is there anything else I can do to earn more points? Or maybe ways to get more books without buying them? I know points are harder to get as you go, and unfortunately I haven't been able to subscribe yet, but any help is appreciated.

Being subscribed is the best way to build up faster. Help from the people in your agency will make the cases seem to fly by.

You hit all the spots you can earn points, sometimes it is just a matter of grinding out case after case of a level that you know you can solve to earn them.

If you want to read more books without buyng them (free xp and all) you could try searching through the message boards for people that have stated that they'd invite anyone into their apartment who wants to read the books they've collected.
Then PM those guys about inviting you to check out their bookshelves.
At least one of them is biund to invite you. If more than one invites you, go check them alll out. Some books can only be gotten as contest prizes so no-one has them all.
