Buying Property Instead of Renting?

Since I've been away quite awhile, and I have an option to buy property, I need some information about it.

I want to open an agency for four detectives, and saw there's property to buy instead of renting. Can I purchase a penthouse and work case files from there, and if so, are there benefits, such as: such as:

1) Case files per detective?
2) Storage Space?
3) Message Boards or access to message?
4) Access to the Crime Lab?
5) Status Board?

Unless, the apartments and/or penthouse is for living quarters only, then that is cool, then I'll have to rent something. I just didn't want to pay out all that money, then learn after the fact...lol!.

I apologize if this has been covered on the message board already. I did look, but didn't see what I'm asking. Perhaps, I overlooked it. Thanks guys!

Thanks ctown for the info. I did PM you. So, in other words, I can not use the other detective's contacts to check my cases. Would the other three detectives be able to work their cases in the penthouse, and want have the aid of my contact to help check their cases right? Concerning storage, how much equipment can one store in a penthouse? The penthouse sounds great, but I need something more than for entertaining. Also, can we rent an agency, plus buy a penthouse, at the same time? Sorry for all the questions, just curious.

Please overlook the last question about "renting and buying at the same time." Thanks!

IF you have an apartment such as the Penthouse, all case work and files is solely yours. You cannot have anyone store files for you to look at nor can you store cases for people to look at. You'd have to start an agency for all contact work. You'd take the caess out of your apartment (assuming you have the furniture to store them in ) and then place them int he case files in the agency. Storage depends on how much space you have available in the room and what kind of storage furniture you buy. You again are the only one that is allowed access to your equipment that you store in your penthouse.

You can have an agency and a Penthouse at the same time :)
Hope that clears things up a bit!

In an apartment, the maximum number of cases that can be stored by one piece of furniture is 9. Storage space varies, from one item (I believe) up to 5, depending on the size of the piece and the cost. A message board is available in the form of a dining room set; again they vary in price. There are no crime labs or status boards available in apartments. However, there are private chat rooms available in the form of living room sets, varying again in price.

Hope all that helps a bit. Nice to see you again, Daru. ;-)

Yes, it was very helpful. I do have one more question. As owner and only one with access, once I leave my apartment, or penthouse, how do I get back in? I know you have to be invited in, so was just curious.

I was wondering if someone, wouldn't mind to send me an invitaion to check their penthouse out. Just not sure what to do. LOL, perhaps, I need to get settled in an agency first, then talk about my dream pad. I think I'm getting the cart before the horse....mercy me.

As the owner of your apartment, you're free to come and go from it whenever you want. However, when you're traveling, you won't be able to access it (kinda hard to walk through your front door in London when you're stuck in Shanghai, ain't it? ;-). And anyone you choose to invite to see your apartment can come and visit you or see the apartment anytime they want to, until you 'uninvite' them.

Invite on the way. ;-)

Thanks again for letting me see your apartment Breitkat. Everything was great. This is one way of showing how hard you've worked to achieve them. Way to go!
