Have you ever said something to somebody who totally misunderstood what you said or meant?

It happened to me a lot and thought it would be fun to hear your stories.

Expl:
I didn't learn english in school. I learned it from american friends who lived in my country.
Then I went to work to England for a year...
Well, let's just say I quickly realized that there are differences between american english and british english.
Like DO NOT tell someone in England that you like their pants!
They might wonder what exactly you want from them.

Or just simple mistakes...
Here is a funny storie that happened with me and my husband just before we got married.

As I mentioned before english is not my native language. He grew up in a bilangual family, so he sort of counts as one. :)
We were in the kitchen preparing dinner.
I handed him a half onion and asked him to wrap it in some aluminium foil.
Few seconds later I turned to him and I saw that he was diligently rubbing the onio in the foil.
I asked him what he was doing and he said that he wasn't sure, he just did what I asked him to do.
In my language we don't have a "W" sound, so sometimes I just bite it off. :)
That's why he thought that I asked him to rub the onion instead of wrap the onion.

So do you have something funny to share with us?
