I left New York after I've done 3 cases.
I arrived to London and wanted to start with a favour, but they didn't have anything for me at the time.

I thought maybe 3 favours IN THIS city....so I've checked if I can do a favour after each case....but still nothing.

Up to now I have done 7 cases without a favour...what's up with that?

Anyway good to know.

Thanks!

I'm a bit confused why you're not checking for a favor after every case, Miss Toria. The 3 case rule generally applies, but there have been proven instances where the system will bring up a favor after only two favors (again, without the pre-priming thing some people do), and sometimes it takes 4 or 5 for one to come up. Like most things around here, things aren't always 100% certain.

David are you sure about that info, for me I never get a favour before 3 cases are complete and it never takes longer than 3 unless I either quit or move city whilst a favour is waiting.

I for one am totaly sure this is a 100% accurate formula as it is in the Sleuth rules - Nebie FAQ at
http://noir.playsleuth.com/help/newbie.html#4

Miss Toria I'd stick with the official line, always check for a favour after 3 standard cases unless you have quit a favour or moved city in which case it will take 4.

Yeah, he's right. It's been reported on the boards before. It only happens occasionally, but it does happen. Three is the standard, but if you're really trying to keep track of favors, you should be checking after every case. Sorry. ;-)

I've never had any favours unless I've done 3 cases. Are you sure these other issues weren't just a glitch?

Yes, actually, I just had it happen yesterday. Happened out of the blue, no special circumstances before or after it. I got a favor after only two cases. And I've also recently worked on another detective that didn't get a favor until the fourth case. The three-case-rule is a GENERAL rule. It's not carved in stone.

Hey Breit/David

This is from the F.A.Q

When do you get a favor?
After 4 correctly finished cases: either 1 favor + 3 normal cases, or 4 normal cases.

So as far as I see it IS carved in stone, well at least typed in F.A.Q ;)

Perhaps you did an extra case that you forgot about then your favour?
And maybe that Detective had a quit case, a F.A or had travelled.
I don't know if you're right or wrong but I've never had what happen what you're describing.

The only time I haven't had three cases + favor is because of quits/F.As or travel.

Well, I guess I'll check it more often from no on.
Thanks all!

I'm not wanting to argue at all about this but it is the rule, 3 cases and you get a favour. It's writen in the rules. I've never seen it happen any other way.. never after 2 and only 4 after a quit or moving with a favour waiting. I don't want any new guys to get confused over this. It is a rule. Anything else is likely to either be a glitch or forgetting. LED is right, printed hard and fast in te Newbie FAQ as I tried to draw attention to earlier.

(Chuckle) Okay, believe what you will. I've read the rules too. I also know that the system doesn't always choose to follow the rules all the time.

I really don't see what the big deal is about checking to see if you've got a favor after you solve a case. But then again, that's just me. ;-)
