Commonly confused code in Intros

Something I've noticed quite a bit of lately is people confusing the codes for the Victim's relationship to the Client, and the Client's relationship to the Victim.

Technically.... [VictimRelation] and [ClientRelation]

Ben's got all the explanations nicely written out, but just to reiterate...

If you're trying to explain who the victim was to the client, it's [VictimRelation]. victim = victim

If you're trying to explain who the client was to the victim, it's [ClientRelation]. client = client

I hope that helps some of you intrepid Intro writers!

Or in other words if the dead person was Fred's Mum then:

[VictimRelation] = She was my MUM / He was my boss.

[ClientRelation] = I am her SON / I was his employee.

So if I wanted to write about the detective in a scripted mystery. Like say in a letter not directed to the detective that that the detective then reads. What do I write then?

Specifically in regards to him/her & he/she and so on...

Anything. This coding is for case introductions and adds the random element to them so they fit the cases.

Scripted Mysteries are entirely written by you. It's ebst if writing about a detective in a letter in a SM to be ambigous about gender e.g. "Blast that darn detective. Every time I turn around there they are poking their nose in. If I didn't know better I'd be thinking that it was me and you that did it."

That way you don't tie the detective's gender down and male and female detective can read it and not think... erm...

Best and best, I'd much prefer if I could script cases to fit detectives a bit better. The other way is so...

...clumsy.

On that note can you make the text italic or bold? Kind of hoping I can create a better visual representation of a bussiness card for one of the townies.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Did Ben input (I think it's called) BB code? Like if I input [i]hello[/i] it could look italicized... I doubt this will work...

I don't know, but I would have tested it with <b>bold tags</b>.
I mean if the above last two words is in bold, it means that you can put in ordinary HTML-tags, and since the text is put into a HTML table-item or paragraph or anything, it will be converted by the browser, not especially because Ben put it there. You could even say that it work unintentionally.
The tags are "<" + "b" + ">" and "<" + "/" + "b" + ">" (just put in a way that hopefully will not be "understood" by the browser ;-))
So, now comes the test, does it put out in bold? I will only see after the post button is pressed.

It did not work here. Then I think it will not work other places either. I think it's all about what techniques Ben uses to build the HTML pages.

Hmmm... I don't 'think' HTML code is switched on for Random Intros, however in SM's Ben has allowed some basic HTML to be used.

Jojo's new mystery has a lot of horizontal rules <h>
some italics <i> insert text here </i>
and some bold <b> insert text here </b>

Oh and the ability to insert the detectives name into the SM which is done by adding the [DetectiveName] tag.

S'all I know.

Oh, so if you have the suspects call you by name, if you put [DetectiveName] tag during questioning and such, it will put the name of the detective playing the mystery? Awesome, that will be very useful for me. In my SM, the client is your sister and I'm getting tired of having her call you "Sib" or "Sibling".
