Well, I'll tell you, with all the movies there, I would like to know what are the Sleuthers favorite quotes. You know, things said by characters that leave an imprint in you mind. It could be finny or sad or anything...as long as it isn't anything dirty. Well my favorite comes from the best comedy movie of 1985, based on the best-selling board game " Clue"
In the game, Mrs. White is a maid. In the movie, she's a widow that her husband has mysteryiously died...
Anyway Miss Scarlet says to Mrs. White if she miss her husband and in returned Mrs White says:
"Well you see it's a matter of life after death. Now that he's dead I have a life."
Anyway...what's yours?

What a great thread! I am one of those people who is constantly performing lines from movies. At present moment, I gotta say I'm very fond of the line from Overboard, "Eat your checkers" by Miss Goldie Hawn.

My fav. quote from the movies has to be from the movie ConAir
"Put the bunny back in the box"-Nicholas Cage
However my alltime favorite quote is from the 80's tv show The A-Team
"I love it when a plan comes together!"-George Peppard /"Hannibal Smith"

If you read the original script for the movie "Jaws" the line "You're gonna need a bigger boat" isn't in it. It was something said during the filming of the movie, liked all around and put in. And today it's one of the most famous quotes in movie history, and almost defining for "Jaws". Unfortunately it's also one of the worlds most famous misquotes. A lot of people incorrectly recall the exclamation Police Chief Martin Brody to be "We're gonna need a bigger boat".

Charlotte your quote is rather appropriate for a Sleuth... seems to me I see about 16 dead people at least at crime scenes each day.
I love the Goonies so Sloth's quote is great. And the Bunny and the Boat... eek never was very decisive.
But I'd have to cheat and go for a TV quote like Scott as my favourite:
So from Inspector Morse "Death Is Now My Neighbour" and partial inspiration for our agency's name:
Adele Cecil: This anagram, "around eve"â€"I've tried and I've tried, but all I can come up with is "Endeavour". And no-one's called Endeavour, surely?
Morse: I told youâ€"my mother was a Quaker, and Quakers sometimes call their children names like Hope, and Patience. My father was obsessed with Captain Cook, and his ship was called Endeavour. Why aren't you both laughing?
Lewis: You poor sod.
Adele Cecil: I'm not calling you "Endeavour".
Lewis: Call him "sir". He likes that.
Adele Cecil: Oh no, no,â€"I'll stick to "Morse", like everyone else.
Morse: [Raises his glass of beer.] Cheers.
I've always especially liked Lewis' reaction!

I have another favorite quote- it's from the anime series InuYasha.
"What's that supposed to be?"
"The iron cart, obviously."

Anything from A Few Good Men, that movie is one big quote fest. I have met long life friends at parties because they can quote that movie word for word.
Princess Bride is another filled with goodies. And Labyrinth.
I watched Music and Lyrics last night too, and although it was mostly too long and dull in places, it had some great quotes like:
Alex Fletcher: [singing] Sleeping with a clown above my bed...
[spoken] "Clown" is not right.
Alex Fletcher: "But God didn't have a hit song. Oh, wait, He's got the whole world, in his..."
And there's a line in Con Air that I adore.
They're in the desert and Cyrus is showing the cons his plan in the sand with sticks and things,
And this con goes, "What's that?"
So Cyrus, with the best ever face John Malovitch has ever pulled in his great sardonic voice goes, "It's a rock." Genius.
I also like this line in Die Hard:
Hans or Lars or whatever his name is, the main baddie is negociating on the phonethe release of terrorist groups from jail
Baddie (to Hans): Asian Dawn?
Hans: I read about them in Time Magazine.
