Finding Motives to Accuse

Is there any other way to find a motive against someone except for asking the other suspects?

I just tried a IH mystery, the hardest i can do, after finding the RRH constantly do-able and it's crazy hard in comparison. About four suspects clammed without even giving an alibi, the townspeople all clammed and i ended up with 3 of 9+ suspects whose alibi i'd checked of which 1 was false... So i checked him against PE and against all odds he came up! I went to accuse and there is no motive against him :(

Oh, one of the suspects went into hiding... is that something i could follow up or is it just a variation of her being dead?

Not really Eva. Lockpicking will give you either an alibi or motives I suppose. It migth be worth looking into that, I'm even one of the rare people who would suggest lockpicking before reasearch.

It seems to me that perhaps you need better interview skills or some better gear. Maybe in the meantime drop back a level of hardness.
I think the jump between really really to incredibly hard is a lot bigger than from really to really really hard.
I remember having a lot of problems with that with Leddie. Also, because I stuffed Leddie's skills up.
Let me know if you want skill advice, other than that, there is not much I can suggest sorry.

As for the suspect fleeing, the townspeople may know where they are. Otherwise, once you have your smart and interview skills you can go for Underworld Connections with the Eastern Triads which will find the suspect :)

Thanks for the reply :) Ah ok, quitting when i know who sucks :(

I have Intermediate Sweet talk, Advanced rule breaking and flirt so not neglecting my interview stuff... I was thinking Advanced Sweet Talk, Research and Hypnotism next in no particular order.

i dropped a couple of charm as on RRH i was having np with interviewing, just sometimes i would get rubbish PE... also the favours have been throwing smart stuff my since they became hard.

Guess i'll make an effort to get some more charm back, should i go for max charm on all my gear?

I would recommend a balance between charm and smart, with perhaps a slight bias towards charm.

I don't know about what smart skills you already have, but I would recommend research, advanced sweet talk, and hypnotism in that order. I would agree with LED in terms of throwing lock picking in the mix.

OK thanks for the advice :)

I have Advanced Thread Analysis, Advanced Hair Analysis and Footprint analysis so i can spot and determine the type of hair, prints and thread. Then i can find notes but not the type but they don't seem to come up for me very often at all.

I'm not ready to join an agency yet, still getting the hang of things and the shop and order of soc stuff is either rubbish or really expensive :)

Seeing that i'm not tough at all and don't have any of the skills, am i ok getting lots of negative tough or should i be looking into getting some tough skills soon?

It is fine going for equipment that gives you high negative tough. Concentrate on getting charming gear that either also helps with smart or at least does not give negative numbers for smart.
You don't need the tough interview skills until much later. You will do fine with just charming. I still don't have many tough interview skills because I have been working on all the charm and smart skills.
I know you said your not ready for an agency, but in an agency you can have high smart gear stored and change to search the crime scene then change into a high charm outfit to question people.

Another advantage to Agencies is that many of them equip a lot of the more expensive faction (and AV reward) gear in their Equipment Lockers for their agents to use. It tends to give the agents a bit of a bump in their smarts factors when they go to look at crime scenes. (It can come in rather handy at times.;-) And agencies are very used to helping new people get their feet on the ground.

Just some things to think about....;-)
