Gate Key for Everyone?

Not complaining, just curious.
After asking what I needed to ask, I went to open the gates and they were already opened. I didn't have to "turn" the "key" so to speak.
Has this changed or was this some weird Cookie thing on my computer?
Could I have gone straight to the Gates?

I have always thought is should work the other way around.
It´s not easy to run around Shagri La with a Villain tied to your arm and then try to keep him/her to stand still while turning the blocks. Last time my villain almost escaped.....

Well, it looks like there are gate keys for everyone now. You just need to do a little bit of work to get it! :-)
