Hey this is just my oppinion on a good skill to have. I think lock picking is great. I find that many times one of my suspects is away from the house and so the chance to picklock pops-up quite a bit.

It will do ONE of two things. Like Roxette and Biggie have said, it may give you the alibi of the person you're looking into. If it doesn't do that, it will give you the list of the people they think may be involved in the crime (the motive question). You have no control over which one the lockpicking skill will answer, but it will give you ONE of the two for two suspects (usually).
