I've read in a few places that subscribed members can other people involved in their cases? Is it a "Hey, do you wanna work a case with me?" or can someone hop on board halfway through a case? And can you do this if you're in an agency?

Its an agency perk, there are case files you can store and then someone else canopen it and help with PE, unclamming, etc.

Come to think of it, how does that work out with rewards?

Each agency is a little different but most follow a general pattern.

You do your cases, and get help as you want for them.
You can turn in your own cases and keep the rewards most of the time.

There is typically some sort of contribution to the Agency Safe to help pay for the rent and such.

In many agencies you can get as many cases as you can do a day, quite often there are always extras to be had.

Or, more less-confuzzingly, the detective who actually solves the case gets the cash or item reward, and shares the skill points earned 50/50 with the detective who started it. The particulars Ran mentioned about what individual agencies might do kick in after that very basic rule.
