Hello, there. I don't understand how does the equipment. How does it works?

BTW, what's the uses of the books?

Not sure I understand the question, but here goes...

The equipment gives you smart, tough or charm points. Smart points mean you're more likely to be able to get information about the physical evidence you find (eg whether a hair is straight or curly). Tough points mean you're better at using interrogation and intimidation skills. Charm points mean you're better at sweet talking and rule bending.

So the advice is, get equipment that matches your detective's strengths.

You get equipment from doing favours. You can also buy it from factions or in the detective shop, but it can be pricey and isn't always worth it in the early stages.

Books get you experience points when you first read them. Other than that, they're things to collect and read.

Is there any other way of getting equipment than buying from the store or factions, or by doing favours? I've seen some profiles of people who have gear that I didn't find for sale at the stores or factions! And where do some guys get gear with golden icons?

The color/golden gear are items from Arch Villian Hunts.

Which you need to be subscribed and very experienced to be able to do.
