You don't. You just stop playing that character and make a new one, if that's what you want to do.

Players cannot delete a detective. If you don't like the detective you created and wish to create a new one, then merely stop playing the one you don't like, and create a new one.
If you don't wish to play at all, then simply... stop playing. You still can't delete a character, though.
