I've read somewhere on the boards the books give a tad amount of exp. for the detective though I can't seem to find it (tried search and newbie faq).
Do books give anything else other than exp.? And is it also worth it(strategically) buying one from the store? Or can you acquire one as a reward/favor?
Thanks for the answers.

I am also interested in finding some books. I currently am in London and have aimlessly (but methodically) wandered around to various parts of town. Curling up with a good book would be oh so relaxing in this rainy weather...... So if anyone would please just give me a clue or two I would be most grateful. Also, are books available in every city?
thanks,
Mell

Sleuth books give you a small amount of experience points when you open them. You have to possess them first, opening someone elses book will NOT give you points. I believe the factions may give you one and an occasional townie if you do them a favor. They are not necessary to the game as they only give about 100 points.

Go take a look at Ona Missions website at http://onamissionagency.googlepages.com/home
In the library section you can find a list of th Sleuth books and how to find them including some free or easish to get with a bit of traveling ones. It's a spoiler so don't look unless you realy want to know.

Actually Sophie has it wrong on the XP.
If you get an invite to someone's apartment (only for subbscribed detectives) you can read someone's library there and earn the XP for each of the books.
It can be a good thing to try that for new players as the XP is enough to earn a skill point or two the easy way.
