I like reading these boards. However, it's a big hassle to check them, because there is no easy way of seeing whether there are new answers to the threads without actually going to the end of each one.

If you do not have the time or the energy to set up a fancy system (the boards arent't the point of the game, after all, which I understand), I think the simple step of reversing the order of messages in a thread would help. You'd see the new ones first by simply clicking on a thread, and you wouldn't have to keep clicking "next" to get to the end.

Another lovely helpful thing would be, if the thread menu could show the date and time of the newest message in addition to the oldest.

So, I decided to do it half-way. A board now shows you posts with recent replies first. But the replies themselves are still shown in the order posted (oldest first).

That way, you can easily see where the newest replies are, but individual threads still read top to bottom.

Maybe either let people click a button to reverse the order, or have a series of links on each page: "Page 1 / Page 2 / Page 3" or "1-10 / 11-20 / 21-30" so people can jump around faster?

Thank you for adding a "last reply" date! That's just made everything so much more convenient.

With this new feature, I don't find it necessary anymore to reverse the message order, because I do agree that it is clearer this way around. However, adding a way to jump around and jump quickly to the end might be a nice addition at some point, something like sirgarr suggests above.

Anyway, thank you!

There seems to be a glitch in the Sleuth Talk message board when you go to the second page, it repeats some on the first page and things are listed in a weird order. Also when you manually enter into the URL which number thread you want to start with, things go goofy.

Ahh, you're right. Thanks again sirgarr.

Must have came up when I changed the board to order posts by reply date instead of post date.
