What are the uses of all these these items you get from the detective shop.
I mean, what do the adjustments do?

What equipment should I keep, get, or get rid off?
Equipment serves to enhance your chance of success when using certain skills. It is only helpful to keep equipment that helps with a skill that you possess. Here is a list of skills helped by each type of gear.

Tough Gear: Intimidation, Interrogation
Smarts Gear: Handwriting Analysis, Footprint Analysis, Advanced Hair Analysis, Advanced Thread Analysis,
Charming Gear: Sweet Talking, Rule Bending, Hypnotism."

You can get better equipment from doing favours for the townies than you can from the detective shop.

Should include above that surveillance is enhanced by smart gear.

Has anyone ever proven this Ara? In the testing that I have done (which was not a huge amount) the success rate for surveillance did not vary according to equipment type. But now that it has been brought up I am going to have to test it again!

THe Newbie FAQ does say that surv is enhanced by wearing smart gear, and also I've found a real difference when I wear full smart gear versus my regular outfit (which is -5 smarts).
