One of four unassuming office buildings centered around a small courtyard, the Dominic D. Miller Memorial War Department Hospital is located on the south side of the quad in the U.S. War Department's New York Field Headquarters Complex. The hospital is seven stories high, and is connected to the northern Operations Building, the western Barracks, and the eastern Special Services Division Building by a series of underground tunnels. Few people have reason to believe the complex is anything but an ordinary place of business. Only an occasional ambulance siren shrieking through the air would imply otherwise.

Barry insisted on accompanying Becky all the way to her room. The check in was swift and everyone already knew Barry from when he was recovering so he had no problem convincing them he should remain with her.

When they got to her room, she was put into bed immediately. Her exhaustion was not so severe as to prevent her from saying, "Barry?"

"I'm here, Becky." Barry sat beside her bed and held her hand in both of his. He saw her smile and close her eyes. She was asleep in a matter of moments. Barry watched her breathe for a little while. He was exhausted too but the episode in the van was still running through his mind.

He knew how Becky felt about him for some time. They had been together for a year or so before they broke up. At the time, Barry had no idea that a woman could be that wonderful or that he could be that happy but then he found out she lied to him about her marriage. The whole time they were together he was given the impression that she was already divorced. She kept from him the truth. The truth was that she was separated from her husband when she met Barry.

Barry was devastated when he found out. He would never have gotten involved with her if he knew she was still legally bound to her husband. Too many of the people in his life suffered the pain of infidelity. He saw the pain it inflicted and he vowed that it would never happen to him. It seems life had it's own plan. And, on top of it all, she lied about it.

Even when he broke it off she said she'd never love another. Barry, on the other hand, was bitter enough to swear off women for quite some time. But then there was this van ride. The closeness they felt. How close he felt to her. He was shocked to hear himself say "I love you". Becky was shocked as well. Her beaming smile was expected. Her weeping stopped and she clung to him the entire way to her room.

Now she was sleeping peacefully with a slight smile on her face and her hand sandwiched between Barry's. Barry was watching her sleep in a state of complete shock.

He thought he was over her. He had felt sure of that. He thought he had moved on. He had felt sure of that, too. He sees he hadn't and now he wasn't sure of anything. He felt exhausted, overwhelmed, and he needed to think. He needed to sleep even more but right now he just wanted to stare at Becky.
