Barry and Andrea raced up to the Empire State Building to meet Dave in an office on the 87th floor. They got into the elevator and, since it was so late, were the only ones in there. It was a good thing to, they were panting and out of breath from running the whole way.

At about the 15th floor, Barry realized that the chances of reaching the 87th floor uninterrupted was very, very good. He looked at Andrea with a twinkle in his eye. Andrea, who had just caught her breath said, "What?"

Barry smiled and pulled her towards him. Andrea smiled and didn't resist.

When the doors opened on the 87th floor, Andrea was picking up her fangs from the floor again.

Barry and Andrea headed down the hallway to the office where Dave was waiting. Before opening the door, they took a moment to adjust their clothing. Without knocking, Barry opened the door for Andrea. Inside, they went through the receptionist area, where there was no receptionist at that hour, and found Dave on the phone.

"OK, make sure there's enough at every location. Send the most men to The Tricky Mister. See if they can dig up anything there." Dave hung up the phone. There was not much to discuss so Dave handed the list of previously known HYDRA locations to Barry and said "I've deployed some back up. Good luck."

Barry stuffed the list into his coat pocket and thanked Dave. As they were leaving, he heard Dave pick up the phone again and say "Get me Joe."

Barry and Andrea headed back to the elevator only this time they had to wait for it. He took out the list and saw the first address. Barry's heart was racing. He could hear his heart beating in his ears. When he took stock of why that was happening, he realized it was due to the ride up in the elevator. He stuffed the list back into his pocket and turned to Andrea.

"Andrea, I want you to know how much I appreciate you being by my side during this." That made Andrea smile and even blush a little. She wasn't sure what to say to him so she went over to him and gave him a peck on the cheek. Barry returned the peck by taking her in his arms and kissing her passionately. Just then, the elevator door opened. Still kissing her, he wrapped his arms around her tighter and picked her up to half carry and half drag her into the elevator. The doors closed and the ride down 87 flights began.

They didn't realize they had reached the first floor and the doors opened until they heard an "ahem". They looked up to see it was a member of the cleaning staff with his mop and pail. Andrea grinned sheepishly and picked up her fangs again along with something pink and frilly. There was a definite look of disapproval from the mop man, but they really didn't care.

They headed out to the first address on the

On the cab ride over there, Andrea reflected on the recent events, as she adjusted her hat and straightened her dress.

She knew Barry was a dedicated detective, but she had never seen him in action before. Her face was flushed. She loved the adrenaline rush brought on by his company and by the thrill of the chase. She could not deny it. This was in her blood and always would be. She wished it could always be like this, working with Barry at her side. But she knew it could never be. He had his work, and she had hers. Still....

She glanced sideways at Barry, who appeared deep in concentration, save for a small grin on his handsome face. She wondered if he was thinking the same thing.

"Barry" - she interrupted his thoughs - "When we get there, how do you want to work this?"

Dave contemplatively watched Barry and Andrea as they left the receptionist's area, then glanced over his shoulder as Lou emerged from the darkened Office behind him. Lou grunted softly to himself, then quietly asked Dave in his usual gruff tone, "We have everything set?"

"Mmm," Dave replied while waiting for his call to go through, "Pulling in the last guys now." He raised the phone to his mouth as he heard a click, "Joe? Menelaus." He waited a moment for the formerly sleeping man to come wide awake and then replied, "Meet me in twenty at the Tricky Mister, and get your brothers up. Target's a 28-year-old, five-foot, six-inch white female, bout 120 pounds, blonde hair, blue eyes. No description on clothes....Mmm. Okay, see you there."

He turned back to Lou as he set the phone back in its cradle, "That's the last one. Menelaus is now on full-alert until the girl's found, one way or another."

They both exchanged grim glances at that. "Let's hope this turns out to be a rescue and not a recovery," Lou muttered.

"Amen to that," Dave sighed tiredly, "I'm on my way now to meet Joe down at the bar where we believe the girl was last seen. After that, I'm gonna go have a chat with ol' Horace, and see if I can get his people to help us out with this."

Lou eyed Dave morosely, "Bet Shady's gonna just love you." He pinched the bridge of his nose over his glasses tiredly, then glanced at his watch. "Okay, while you're working your way up from the bottom with Ossie's people, I'll take a crack at the top. Since they're not gonna be too thrilled with a phone call at three in the morning, I'll catch the milk run and be on Arthur's doorstep when he wakes up at six. That should cheer him up loads." He grinned wolfishly at Dave and winked.

Dave chuckled at his boss' rare joke, then both men silently headed out into the deserted skyscraper and the darkened city....

Angel walked back to her office, and took down her sign, she looked around and noticed a man sitting near there. She took her key, unlocked the door and opened it. She walked in, leaving the door open. She went to her desk, sat down, and sorted her papers.

A moment later, she looked up and saw a silhouette standing in the doorway, she liked saving electricity so she always had her office dark except the lone lamp on her desk to read her files.

Angel looked at her files, flipped through a few pages and found her list. She still needed to run some errands on her case.

The list said:

visit city hall
talk to shady
talk to the sylvia - see if she knows anything

Now, she memorized the list, and posted a sign that she will be back later and headed out the door.
