It was Wednesday night when Miss Violet Parr got out of a black car, and walked towards the steps of the large building that appeared to face her in the pitch black darkness of the night.

The loud music, blinding lights and sharp noises of laughter and chatter emitting from the large building did not deter Miss Parr from taking a few more confident steps towards the building, the length of her violet velvet dress trailing behind her. A cold chill came over her and she tightened the purple feather boa she was wearing around her bare shoulders. “So this is what he turned the place into.” She commented casually to herself.

Before her stood what once was the Marquee Theatre. Newly designed and quite obviously fully refurbished from the inside as well. Miss Parr reviewed her findings: The ownership of the Marquee has been transferred to Mrs. Georges and her husband Mr. Georges, the previous owner, was nowhere to be found.

The infamous socialite Mrs. Georges had, quite expectedly, turned the Theatre into a Ball Room/Party Hall, and reduced its long creative theatrical history to one long ongoing party. What was once the Marquee Theatre was now the Marquee Grand Hall.

Though the Marquee was not very popular with the New York crowds, Miss Parr more often than not enjoyed viewing the classic shows the Marquee produced whilst she awaited Mr. Georges’ availability or her own recreational benefit.

Miss Violet Parr was determined to expose whatever information Mrs. Georges had to hide. Though she has never met the lady before, Violet was certain that the answers to her most pressing questions would somehow lie under the layers of fur and jewels that Mrs. Georges choose to bury herself in for most newspaper photographs.

Right before she would enter the Marquee Hall, Violet wore a feathery purple mask that would conceal her identity. Tonight she was to be Miss Feathers once again, and she carefully chose to attend Mrs. Georges’ Masked Ball for this very purpose.

"THOSE HAGS GOT IT WRONG!" Arsenio overheard somebody screaming in their room only to remember the voice of Violet. "Vi will you just- HEY!" Christopher said out loud. " The man I married wasn't from the Philippines! He was Australian for gods sake!" "Violet easy! What's this about?" Christopher asked. "Read this!" Violet answered.

After a few minutes Arsenio then heard the loud luaghing of Christopher. "You actually married that Arsenio guy! HAHAH- OW!" "I-did-not-marry-him! I married some other scammer! I would now!" Arsenio then heard lots of footsteps and decides he should go.

Arsenio ran through his head the conversation again and again.

"Wow..." Arsenio said to himself with a smile over his face.

Arsenio looked at his pocket watch and saw that it was already 3 in the morning. "I can't believe it..."

"She married Aaron."

Arsenio went to the dining room at 7:40 and looked at the buffet layed down the long table. "This is breakfast!" Arsenio said hawtily as he grabbed a plate to get some food.

7 weeks passed and Arsenio was getting used with being on-the-run in a boat until finally they reached the docks of Shanghai. "Ah... finally Shanghai, China"

"Arsenio Armas?" said a man by the docks whom Arsenio could not see. "Yes... who are you?" asked Arsenio his hand in his pocket ready to take the chain of the Pocket watch to his neck if he did something wrong.

"Hello my name is Victor Carmichle I'm an agent of the Dies Arcanum Brotherhood, it's good to see you."

Miss Violet Parr had on a very bright smile as she proceeded to feed Mrs. Georges the remainder of her lunch. After the passing of many weeks in captivity, Aisha Georges had finally grown accustomed to being a prisoner of the charming Miss Parr. Nevertheless, Aisha Georges never uttered a word about her husband Frank Georges during those weeks, or spoke about any of his secrets and confidences.

Miss Parr turned to Mr. Keller. “Is he gone Christopher? That Arsenio person?”

“Yes. He’s gone… I can’t believe you didn’t let me attack him for eavesdropping on us!”

“That was not necessary.” Miss Parr took away the plate and the remaining food on it to the bedside table. “A little dramatic performance was all that was needed to divert his attentions away from us and our undertakings.”

“He now believes that you were married before Violet.” Christopher seemed concerned.

Violet laughed casually. “Well then he is labouring under a very unfortunate misapprehension.”

“Seriously, Violet, that line came out of nowhere. Were you ever married before?” Christopher Keller asked eagerly.

Violet brushed him aside as she prepared her luggage for the arrival to Shanghai. “I have never been married in my life. That is why I always insist on being titled ‘Miss’” Suddenly alert, she turned to Christopher. “What is it to you Mr. Keller?”

“What’s with the formalities Vi, we are pals here.”

“Indeed.” Violet, her guard down, smiled.

“So what’s with this Arsenio person? Why is he so hostile towards you?”

Violet smiled knowingly, and then pushed her long dark hair back before she spoke. “He is a con man Christopher. He marries older women and then robs them blind of their money. I had they very unpleasant experience of working on a case that involved him. Needless to say, he was one of the very few conmen to slip away without being ever accused, detected or captured and brought to justice.”

“He should have married and robbed Mrs. Georges and saved all this trouble!”

Violet’s manners barely repressed a giggle.

“Hmm… may be I will succeed were you failed, Vi. I will make it a priority to capture this man one day. Why, if I am offered a good reward right now I will-”

“You will, of course, refuse such undertaking currently.” Violet was frightened.

“I was joking… Yes I probably will refuse to chase this man, why?” Christopher enquired.

“It is just that I do need your help now after all… in controlling her.” Violet nodded towards Mrs. Georges. “She is very lifeless. She did not speak since she awoke. I wonder if that is the way she is in her ordinary everyday life, such a contrast to her infamous partying reputation.” Miss Parr turned to Mrs. Georges and spoke up. “Mrs. Georges, if you cooperate we will not have to drug you once more. We need to disembark the ship in a few hours and I will require you full and irrevocable cooperation.”

“….”

“What was that Mrs. Georges?”

“Surrrrre Mizz Barrr…”

“I think she will be on her best behaviour.” Christopher smiled approvingly. “Even someone as arrogant as she is can only take so much pressure before giving in to a kidnapping…”

A sudden realization dawned upon the both of them.

Violet Parr was uneasy. Christopher Keller looked at her reassuringly.

"They actually think I'm the con." Arsenio said to himself as he woke up. "I hate Aaron right now..."

"Mr. Armas are you alright?" asked Victor. "I'm fine, I'm fine where are we going anyway?" "Away from the eyes of the Green Hand we have a hidden headqaurters were recently Victor Chen decided to vacate."

At arriving at a dingy warehouse Victor motioned for Arsenio to enter. "Ok..."

At arriving he saw that the dingy warehouse was as busy as the marketplace of Shanghai. "Welcome to the Dies Arcanum Brotherhood Shanghai headquarters. Oh and as a gift we humbly show you these as a gift of respect." Victor showed Arsenio 2 items owned by the Dies Arcanum brotherhood. A Deringer pistol and a pair of Red Suede's. Arsenio wore the shoes and kept the Pistol in his pocket.

"Right now on to bussiness, as you well know about the kidnappings I fear that they are coming here to Shanghai." "You mean this Violet woman and the Christopher guy?" "Yes... alright your job is to locate them..."

"And bring them to us. You will have the choice to be Father Inquisitor for this. Don't fail us Mr. Armas."

A well-dressed man walked slowly and confidently toward the docks. He stared steadily downward, pausing here and there to sprinkle a dark powder on the ground.

As he neared the ship closest to him a gruff voice whispered from behind him "Where do you think yer goin pretty boy?" Two men stepped from the shadows flanking the well-dressed man and softly laughing to themselves.

Keeping his pace, Mr. "well-dressed" lifted his head and smiled. He did it slowly as if to some private joke. It was all the more malevolent because he was wearing a elegant black mask that covered everything but his cruely curling lips.

The rough sailor in front of him started and took a step back. "What the... who wears a mask?" he motioned to the other large man and the two theives scurried back into the darkness they had emerged from.

"Mask?" said the well-dressed man staring after them, "Oh yes, the party..." But before he remembered to take it off his head was back down toward the strange powder he had thrown down. As he watched , orange footprints became slowly visible by the light of the moon still in the sky.

"Wonderful" he mused, "the reaction is perfect. I might just find her again after all..."
