How come I stopped getting skill points? :(

My detective is able to do Incredibly Hard mysteries now. I noticed a trend that every time a harder level would appear, I'd stop getting skill points from the last hardest level (ie, when "Really Really Hard" opened up, I stopped getting skill points from "Really Hard" and easier mysteries than that.)

But I'm at "Incredibly Hard" now and only managed to solve 2 of those cases. And I'm not getting skill points! :( What happened? How do I get more skill points again! I really really need them because this detective is actually still pretty weak!

You've stopped getting skill points from every case because you're more experienced.

As you get more experience, it takes more experience points for each skill point.

Before, I could get a skill point for every 1,000 exp points... now it takes 50,000 exp points for a skill point.

Ah I get it! Thanks. I just don't know how what the exponential rate is for it now. Before it was probably like 500...now it's probably somewhere in the lower thousands.

The highest it will ever get is 50,000. It stops there.

I have almost 4000 exp points (would've had more but I've had to pull Squinky out of retirement twice.) I guess it'd be 5-10000 exp til more skill points come along? Guess I should quit cases more often so he doesn't have to keep retiring!

Yeah, absolutely mate...seriously, the single most important piece of advice you can get around here is:

DO NOT GUESS!

No matter how sure you are. You either know who it is or you don't. And if you don't absolutely know, just quit. Trust me, as you progress, there will be lots more complicated and honourable reasons to pick up false accusations than guessing. Save your dough for those times. If it makes you feel any better, I've quit 227 times -each sweeter than the last- and one of the top people here has over 1000 quits.

Be like Nike. Just do it.
