I'm playing at intermediate level, my character is very charming. I've also got the skills of interrogation and hair analysis. I've a chemist kit and a razor blade. When can the chemist kit and hair anlysis skill come into use? why can't i find any hair or thread at the crime scene? i've tried advance once, but everyone was clamming up. What could be done? thanks...

You're spreading yourself too thin. Your archtype gives no advantage to smarts or toughness and your equipment gives only a +2. As your cases get harder, you will need a higher and higher smarts or toughness adjustment.

This character is very smart, with minor toughness skills. I have one who is smart and charming - sans toughness and one who is very tough - period.

You should not have needed interrogation with the charm, frankly. As your charm increases, you can also charm those for whom interrogation might otherwise work better, and vice versa. The game seems designed so that 2 areas of focus are a benefit, but 3 will drag you down.

Others who have more experience may be able to offer better advice, but I hope this helps some.

As for finding hairs and threads at the crime scene, you will only be able to find these if you have the according skills (i.e. hair analysis and thread analysis.

Now I'm guessing the reason why you haven't been able to find any threads yet is because you don't have thread analysis. As for not having found any hairs despite having hair analysis is because there haven't been any hairs to find at the crime scene in the case you had. Sometimes there just won't be any of a particular kind of physical evidence, but if you have the basic skill you can always be sure to find it if it's there :)
