Wow, Ben! You don't waste any time! I logged off for a bit and when I came back on there was a new line with "transfer your retired subscription" (at least, I haven't seen it before now)

start and is a good teaching tool. However, we are seeing more and more experienced players who have been a big part in Sleuth and the community such as Aralives, Jas and Nacho Perez.Something, that never happened when I first joined for the reasons mentioned.
I also agree that the "penalties" might be too lenient but you are still losing a lot. And it gets to a point where it's not going to make any sense reactivating a retired detective if you make more penalties.

Anyway, these are my ramblings, once again I agree with what a lot of you say. I don't really know how I feel about everything. I am glad to have LED back and hope it re-sparks some of my interest in the game but I do like how Shady runs too. Like I said, there is a lot I agree about with all of you.

I also think this, like so many other things will blow over and everyone will move on. Ben can't please everyone all the time and there will always be stuff about a game not everyone likes so I really don't know why I bothered to put in my worthless two cents.

Thank you CrunchPatty for your above thoughts, well said as usual.

aww Leddie! Nice to see you back girl!

As I already have said, I agree with most of what everyone says regarding this. I hope that Ben will take a second look at this and take the advice of some obviously well-thought out ideas from people who are really active in this community.

That being said, thank you Ben, for trying to come up with a solution to this issue, and so quickly after the whole Jas incident.

Just FYI: Ben has added a "Second Chance" link on the City Hall page which outlines the process of bringing a retired detective back. Thanks, Ben

It is nice to see you back LED.

I know I am a typically quiet member when it comes to boards and I am not sure if this is where I post ideas or suggestions or not...with that being said. First and foremost I think it is a great idea to allow those that do have the accidental 3rd FA and have nothing they can do the opportunity to come back. With that being said I have an idea of how to deter those that may use this to an advantage instead of what it is intended for. How about making a set amount of money in order to resurrect...like $50,000? I mean this would make sure that everyone had to pay something even if they were in agency. (This payment would take away the hit to your money) I agree with the loss of experience, skill points and an item. But in order to make sure the detective loses an item, how about making it a payment. I am not saying that this item has to be a certain item, just an item.

Another big idea I had was possibly only allowing resurrection twice (in other words a detective has 3 lives). I think that this would protect against the accidents and again clear out anyone doing it intentionally.

Again I understand if noone wants to listen to this, I do not post often but that is because I am not one for drama. I thought of these ideas and thought I would mention them in order to try and bring the two sides to some sort of middle point.

Welcome back to all of those that have left us before! It is could to see you again!

I really like this update, giving the opportunity to old detective to come back is a really good point.
It was so desesperating to see detective who where number one on the overall high score a long long time ago retired with no opportunity to come back.
Or others ones like LED :) who were so active on the board.

An other idear ( good or bad) is to put a delay between the retirement and the reactivation. hum... like a month.
But our admins have probably already thought a lot about this change.

Welcome back, Leddie, Ara, Akano, and soooooooo many others!

I've been trying to digest all of this information, and here's where my thoughts have led....

If you choose to pay shady, even at the earlier levels, often you end up selling every item you have, and borrowing money to do it. I think retiring might be a pretty sweet deal to avoid that. Sure you pay in exp, but if you are in an agency, that can be pretty easy to recover as well as your money and gear.

Plus, it looks like if you retire you get to keep your sweet apartment too?! Dang! At least realestate should be taken too.

I really like the ideas presented about losing contacts. While the levels aren't bad, Ben's repeatedly stated the issue with that, and he's right. Someone with 4,899,076 exp points is going to bump their goldfish and want the 5 mil exp break. More work leg work for Ben that he shouldn't have to do.

I also think that the resurrection, one time use skill isn't a bad idea. I don't know how diffuclt a one time use skill would be to create though.

At any rate. At least we shouldn't have so many complaints about Shady being too high. I know I was prepared, like many, to just accept retirement if I ever got up to that 2nd FA. It's nice to know I have another option!

I just think the results should be more similar to retirement, than a simple inconvience. Keep the name, as some one suggested but lose everything else.

A new skill could be interesting, what about if it reset when you use it.
At some point it could be a good way to spend skill points when you have an experienced detective.

I think the "resurrection skill" is an excellent idea. It eliminates the delimna of having level cuttofs, and at the higher levels you accrue skill points so slowly that there really is no danger of the "skill" being abused.
