NEW YORK (Reuters) - Police investigators believe they have discovered the whereabouts of missing detective, Barry Grant. Grant was reported missing three days about by a friend of his, Rebecca Franks. "I was supposed to meet him at Big Lucy's that night but he never showed."

Grant, Global Sleuth Syndicate Ambassador from Shanghai, had been working at the Blue Pagoda Agency on a Good Will mission at the time of his disappearance. "He was becoming a much relied upon detective." Lady jasNmushu, a Director at Blue Pagoda Agency, said of the missing detective.

Police have reason to believe that Grant was abducted by operatives from HYDRA while on his way to Big Lucy's. "I was meeting him at the corner of Eleventh Avenue and 42nd Street that night." recounted a teary-eyed divorcee Mrs. Franks. "He never showed."

Chief Inspector James Mulligan was able to determine the last place Grant was seen. "Cyrus Tibby recalls serving Mr. Grant a Tom Collins around 7 pm that night. After that, Mr. Grant left the premises and that was the last anyone had seen of him."

This reporter secured an interview with the elusive Larry the Toe. "I don't know anything about that." was his response to all my questions.

There was a break in the investigation when a shady character finally stepped forward to reveal he saw a tall man with a hat being forced into a car. This shady character, who prefers to remain anonymous, was unable to make out the license plate number but he recognized the car and the man doing the abducting. "I've seen that happen before. Same guy. Same car."

Policed will not disclose any more details for fear it could put Mr. Grant's life in jeopardy. Chief Inspector Mulligan's final word: "We don't want to lose any more detectives to that fiendish group."

Violet had to think quickly. She believed that she was right in deciding to ignore the shouts of Mr. Grant, though his questions were valid, and though his suspicious inquiries were not entirely unfounded.

She was not used to unauthorised physical contact, but she managed to keep her composure and stop herself from screaming as the broad-shouldered man grabbed her arm.

She had to think very quickly. She did not know if the security men were hospital security, men working for Mr. Grant or otherwise... In either case, she could not allow herself to be recognized publicly. Her image was immaculate... spotless... and she did not want a moment of impulse that drove her to visit Barry Grant to ruin an image she worked so hard to maintain.

She attempted to ask the short man who held her as they walked the hospital corridors a question. She was discreetly shushed. Violet Parr sensed danger and decided to act very swiftly.

"HOW RUDE!" the shout came from behind Miss Parr and the two men constraining her. As soon as the men turned, Violet neatly caught the shorter man's hand and flipped him through the air. She then firmly and decisively attacked the other man using the Judo techniques she studied as a young girl.

The disoriented men heard another shout coming from behind them. "STOP IT'S THE POLICE." By the time they were up on their feet, Violet Parr had disappeared.

It was as if she practically flew from the corridors.

Violet Parr smiled to herself as she made her way away from the hospital, content with her efforts. As a young girl, Miss Parr took classes in ventriloquism. She had managed to throw her voice behind the men, and, quite successful, confuse and disorient them.

She, however, reviewed Barry Grants questions in her mind: "How do you know me? Have we met before? What trouble do you foresee? How did you get in here undetected?"

He could be spared this unnecessary knowledge. The past is over and done with... Her previous entanglement with him has been long put to rest, and the fact that he does not recall her alone should be sufficient to convince her not to utter another word to him about it.

Violet Parr stops and turns her head with elegance and grace towards Mr. Grant’s hospital window, she then decisively turns away and keeps walking with her quick and firm steps.

She did not even shudder as her violet scarf was blown away by the strong winds, releasing her long dark hair, and leaving it soaring behind her as she walked.

Barry's shouting reminded him that he wasn't 100% better yet. In his confusion and efforts to talk to the mysterious woman, he twisted his torso and felt some stitches pull. "Dang."

He laid back in bed and started to think about Miss Parr. "She claims we met before but were never introduced. I wonder what occasions those were?"

Barry tried to recall the events of the night he got captured. He could not think of where he would have met her. He wasn't sure she was telling the truth because a woman as beautiful as she is would certainly have made an impression. "Was she at the bar that night before I went to meet Becky?" Trying to recall that night started to put a strain on him.

He closed his eyes to try and relax. As soon as he relaxed, the thought of AndreaX popped into his mind and the events of the night before. As a result, he fell asleep with a goofy grin.

Pearl was taking a walk after lunch like she always does. She usually takes the same route which takes her exactly 20 minutes around and back however this time she took a different route and found something. "Ooo! A violet scarf! This will go great with my paisley dress." Pearl looked around trying to see if anyone was looking for a scarf. She didn't see anyone so she pocketed the scarf and kept going.

Barry awoke troubled. He fell asleep thinking about Andrea but woke up from a disturbing dream involving Violet Parr. In his dream, she was in danger and there was nothing he could do to help her. Barry sat up to shake the feeling. He wasn't sure why he dreamt she was in danger when she was warning him about the danger he's in.

He contemplated Miss Parr's visit. He was very impressed with her ability to get in undetected. He remembered her sudden appearance at his door and he was curious about what she was hiding under that violet scarf on her head. He remembered how self-confident she seemed with a hint of delicateness that showed in her eyes.

He spent the better part of the morning trying to recall where he may have met her in the past and he found it to be not an entirely unpleasant experience.

Meanwhile, back at The Closers in Amber Leigh's office...

Prissy, Director Rhiemma Moon’s pet cougar, was lying next to Amber’s desk relaxing. Rhie had insisted that the cat stay with Amber for protection.

Amber sat at her desk reading the case file for the sixth time. She couldn’t concentrate. Amber kept thinking about Officer Grant and how he almost died because of her.

The thought sent a shiver down her spine.

Barry was in the hospital because of her stupid choices.

Amber flung the file across the room. “It’s all my fault.” She mumbled to herself.

Prissy quickly rose on all four legs and began looking around.

“Easy girl.” Amber spoke softly, “It’s just me.”

Amber reached over and stroked the cat’s head. “I just feel awful about Mr. Grant and I don’t know what to do.”

She wanted to go see him and make sure he was ok but she didn’t want to risk being followed. Besides, she was told not to go anywhere alone and she doubted the hospital would let Prissy in with her.

Amber shoved the pile of cases to the corner of her desk. “I can’t focus on these right now.” She thought to herself. “I need to let Mr. Grant know how deeply sorry I am, but how?”

With tears in her eyes, Amber decides to send a telegram.

DEAR MR. GRANT, STOP

I PRAY YOU ARE MAKING A FULL RECOVERY STOP
WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS STOP
HOW SORRY I AM STOP
WOULD LIKE TO VISIT YOU STOP
BUT I FEAR IT WILL ONLY BRING STOP
MORE TROUBLE STOP

AMBER LEIGH STOP

Barry had fallen asleep yet again however this time his dream had Violet Parr in it but she was not in danger. It was getting a bit interesting when he was awoken by a knock at the door.

"Come in."

A nurse came in carrying a tray of food and set it beside his bed. "Mr. Grant, a telegram arrived for you." she said and handed it to him. "If you need anything, just buzz." Having completing her duties here, she left.

Barry opened the telegram and began to smile. He thought it was very nice of Ms. Leigh to send that telegram and she should not feel so guilty. It's become apparent that this situation is bigger than her and Jake.

Barry put the telegram on the side table and pulled the food towards him. He began to eat and was starting to yearn for anything but hospital food. "Maybe I'll ask Andrea to sneak a hot dog in here or something." he thought as he took a bite of the near tasteless meatloaf.

Andrea knocked on the door and entered the hospital room. Barry looked a great deal perkier today. She saw he was eating the hospital food and enjoying it not one bit.

"Hello Barry!" - she said, swooping down to give him a quick kiss - "That looks absolutely terrible. I think I have something here that might cheer you up"

"Hello Andrea!" - he said - "Yes, this is awful. You have something for me?"

"I had my friend Serges bake you one of his famous lasagnas" - she told him - "Maybe you will prefer this over that mushy meatloaf?"

He barely nodded before he started attacking the lasagna with obvious gusto. Andrea sat next to him and noticed a piece of paper on the bedstand.

"What is this?"- she asked

Barry had a mouthful of lasagna when he turned to look at what Andrea was talking about. He chewed and swallowed quickly and said, "Oh, a telegram came from Amber Leigh. She's feeling a little bad about everything. I'm going to respond to her and tell her not to worry about it."

Barry was going to go on to say he was going to tell Amber that the problem is bigger than everyone thought and she couldn't be made to blame when Andrea interrupted him.
