Hi, Redwings a really good place to start finding answers is the welcome newbies thread. It is full of answers to the most commonly asked questions. As far as names getting crossed off of your list, that means the person has been murdered during the course of your investigation.

You may also want to look at the Newbie FAQ, linked at the bottom of every page; also try doing the tutorial case. Good luck! :)

Mr. Redwings,

The ladies have given you excellent resources and they will be well worth your time to review them. There is also a "HELP" link at the top right of every page.

However, as for a "way to solve cases", general concensus says to always ask a suspect the motive question first. It is imperative to get all suspects and their alibis. After that, I recommend going around and asking for alibis, confirm those alibis, then ID the PE against those suspects with false or no alibis.

My full technique can be read here: http://www.freewebs.com/barrygrant/sleuthhelp.htm. Please bear in mind that this is the way I do it. Other very successful detectives probably do it differently. Find what works for you.
