Can't buy second cane!

I've noticed some sleuths have two silver handled canes. I have one, and tried to buy a second one just then but wasn't allowed! How does one get two canes? Do you have to win one as a favour?

a lot of people borrow them out of agency lockers...

You might also try buying one while not holding the other. You can't buy a second if you have one on you.

Admittedly, this was an unexpected advantage that popped up from agency lockers. I considered making it impossible to use the lockers to hold two of the same item, but at this point, I figure I'd get yelled at if I made that change. Once people are used to something, it's tough to take it away.

after all, some people need two canes because they have limps on both legs.

I can see both sides of this issue. I carry two Tommy Guns, and I bet that would be more intimidating to a suspect than if I only had one! But I could carry something else of equal toughness - as for example, some charming sleuths carry two canes or two very expensive perfumes. That has the same effect as carrying one perfume and one cane, right? But as far as the imaginative, story element, isn't better to have shortwave wristwatch and a forensic camera, as opposed to two of either? Realistically, what would one do with two shortwave wristwatches? Maybe one camera for slides and one for photos?

Maybe if you were to change this, Ben, you'd get some griping, but if at the same time you introduced some new nifty items in each area, I think carrying two different things would be more fun than carrying two identical items. And you might not get so much griping if a good change came along with the "bad."

I don't have a problem with a person only being able to carry one of an item, but we need to have more than one in the locker since sometimes multiple people borrow the same thing, or say I have a cane, there is a cane in the locker and I want to store my cane to borrow the camera. If there can only be one cane in the locker I cannot borrow the camera, causing 2 canes to be stored. Did that make sense?

BTW, why is there no tough hat worth +4? Is this an oversight?
