A place to speculate and post theories on what works and what doesn't work as we solve cases, travel and explore.

I'm pretty sure on a few rare occasions I've been able to get 4 answers from townies. Can't back this claim up, however... but I'll give it a shot while doing cases today.

As a bored math major, I have determined that villain hunts will cost you a total of either 7,8,10 or 11 cases for travel. This does not include any effect from kits (take away 3 from each total) nor the trip down from Shangri La. Also, whichever trip length you get after your first city, you will get as your last trip length. So if you go from New York to London first (cost of 2 cases), the final leg of the trip will also cost you 2 cases with the middle leg costing either 3 or 4.
As for townie hints, I have had more than 3 but I'm fairly certain that was at the Incredibly Hard level or lower. I've never had anything other than 2 or 3 on AI cases.

sorry must not have been clear.
Not questions answered but how many townies will give you info that someone knows/does not know. I had thought up until now that the most would be three hints. Now if there can be more than 3 WE does that mean you can get more than 3 hints?

When i said "answers", I was referring to the number of townie hints in the case, not the number of questions you can ask a townie before they completely clam.
Sorry for the semantic confusion.

i think the number of hints you will recieve from townies(who knows or doesnt know) varies based on the case level. I have never recieved any more than 2 from an AI case, and about 4 from a really hard case. This is not set in stone though, but I think there is no connection between WE in a case and the number of these answers. If there are 3 WE per case, then in any case there are 3 people that say someone they know, and the rest dont. Of these, 1 is wrong (you get 2 for the killer). If a townie tells you someone knows who they think the killer is, then they are one of the 3. even if you get 5 lots of "joe bloggs hasnt seen anything suspicious", that only means there are 5 people who will not give you any WE. There will still be at least 2 people who will give you WE.
