Chron, I had heard that you closed ERF, but I did not realize that you also retired your detective. I was very sad to see that.

You have put alot of time and energy into this game, and to give it all up because of the opinion of a loud minority is wrong.

I do not think you did anything unethical. Each day, we are given 12 cases - if they are not used, they are lost. No one wanted to implement a system of roll over - I have suggested it many times.

As a paying player, I have a right to decide what happens to my cases. I prefer to have them used by someone who is going to work on them and solve them. Am I to assume that most people would prefer to have the cases lost, then to be used by someone else? If so, what a selfish attitude!

I think the only people who can decide whether or not something is unethical, are the people who are giving up their cases. If they do not have a problem with it, why should anyone else interfer.

As for the high score list - So what if someone is number 1 and I am number 500,000 - does that take away from my enjoyment of the game? What does the #1 Detective get that I don't get? More cases? A larger office?? More money??

Again, I am sorry that you have left Sleuth. I will miss you.

Firstly let me say I am sorry to see ERF go. I don't think that was necessary, despite what's been said in various forums.

This thread is a GREAT way to show appreciation for Chron and that's only fair and reasonable coz he's helped a lot of people with the game, and those people and others should be able to mark their respect, but it is NOT a place to bait other players.

TWO vocal minorites banging on about each other is just getting boring.

Thanks.

Well, Squirrel, I guess Chron had his reasons why he decided to quit and I think we should respect that. The very same reasons why he quitted are inherent to the dynamics of a multi-player game.

It's good to hear opinions on both sides and see what can be done to clean up the bad air. But before this can happen some frustrations on both sides needed to be vented. Personally I prefer these debates to be open and public rather than through private messages or exclusive chatrooms. Good ideas do get born out of strive so I hope all this turmoil might cause something good to emerge out of it.

I agree that ideas should be discussed and not people in particular. But if some of us feel the need to express their sympathy for Chron it can happen that certain things come out of the gut. Same thing happens in real life after a funeral...

Anyway Chron, nice to see you're still staying in touch even though it's on a less frequent scale. I'm also glad to tell you that Emerald found a place in our agency.

I cried a small tear when I saw two top 10 detectives retired recently. I will miss you both.

I figure after having a PM convo with Badass I should just say that I wasn't trying to stifle debate, not that he was inferring that either, all I was thinking was that this was a great place to honour Chron, to thank him, to encourage his return, to remind the ex-members of ERF they are still loved by the community.

There 'are' other threadS about the topicS at hand, why not have at least one that's positive and points 'forward' instead of looking back.

Perhaps (I too Badass) am too soft. :)

Chron,
I'm sorry you're gone. I do hope you will come back, either now, or eventually, after you've had time to rest. We never know how much of a good thing we have until they're gone. You've done some amazing accomplishments here. (I wonder if people truly realize just how hard it is to go as high as you reached.) You've also made some wonderful contributions to Sleuth, and seldom been recognized for it. Your hard work, dedication, and generosity to others will not be forgotten.
Rest well, my friend, and live in peace. Breit.
