Question about stats on the high score board

I was just perusing the weekly high scorers (wow! you guys are amazing...) and was wondering just how it is possible to complete so many cases (200+!) in one week. By my count, 7X12 is 84, plus maybe another 4 favors per day - that still only makes 112, if you solved everything. Where are the other 100+ cases coming from?

Of course you presume to know what is on everyone's mind and in their hearts. My agents know why I made this decision, as it's been in the works for a while. I do not want them to continue to be subjected to the venom just because they are in ERF TEAM. I warned them when they first joined of what lay ahead as a consequence of being in my agency, and they took it lightly, but the proof is here for all to see.

I notice you just like disagreeing with me, no matter what the subject. You didn't have anything to say when Jas confirmed my contacts/factions connections, not even an 'I stand corrected', not that I expected it from any of the naysayers.

I've shared my findings with my friends, and I'm sure eventually it will get out to many others, but that's how things work.

It's been interesting, I'll have to admit, but I think with no ERF TEAM, maybe this place will take on a much friendlier atmosphere. Believe it or not, that IS my hope, for the sakes of my team mates and friends!

Actually Chron, nobody has won here. Dissolving ERF and retiring your detective does nothing to solve our initial problem here. It appears that you know what you were doing was "unethical" or else you would not have deflected all the attention by dissolving your agency and retiring your detectives. Instead of taking responsibility and standing up for your method of play, you have decided to commit sleuth suicide. And unfortunately, I do not feel sorrow, as no one in the community specifically asked you to do this. I have never enjoyed party poopers and to me this is a big poop.

Chron, mate, sorry to found out about you decision. But I'm sure it wasn't taken over a night. Luckily this is just a game or else I'd be inspired to write a scription on group dynamics.

Can we all agree to the fact that rewards and glory emerge from the fact how much work you put into it? And can we also agree that after you collected all your skills and contacts, have been to every city, caught a couple of villains, won some treasure hunts and figured out whatever is in there in the pyramids, all what is left is just a mere matter of quantities?

To be honest, I have a hard time to motivate myself and work on 12 cases on a daily basis. But I have no problem whatsoever to give away my remaining cases to someone else in my agency who looks to climb up in the rankings.

The way I see it and based on previous comments those rankings don't seem to add to the fun but only cause friction and frustration. What if we just would get rid of them? I have no problem to see someone being a couple of ranks ahead of me because it doesn't mean a thing to me.

And if you think it's unfair that another person will always be ahead of you and you have no chance to ever catch up, you can always start an agency of your own and bring in as many doubles as you like. Yes as many as you like, you heard it....

The question is, how much fun will you have?

Dont forget that many of the people who posted here are the same as the people who gave their cheers in the thread about how well ERF is doing. That thread is not that old...
So if you want to quit on this, well tha'ts your right! But it seems to me that this comes up everytime someone has found a way to do something that is allowed by the game but considerd unethical or unfair by many.



We had this disscusion about switching between agencies, about changing passwords and now about giving eachother cases.

Personally I dont care about the high scores. I never look at them and if someone finds this so important that they want to stop playing and just use an assembly line of contacts, well that's their choise. I would find that pretty boring.

But I do understand why some people are upset (took me some time, but i get it now). This system is making the high scores ridicilous.
Still right now its within the rules. So the only way to avoid it is to change the rules. But is everyone sure that they would like to have all this restrictions on their game and team, just to make sure they can maybe one day be number one?

Yes, changing the rules would make it more fair (highscore wise), but it would make other things really annoying.
Unsubbed ppl wont have anything to contribute in an agency, they will become dead weight or will be kicked out.
You wont be able to help eachother with factions cases.
Detectives on vacation wont be able to help team mates by giving them cases. Etc... etc...

IS IT WORTH IT?

If we speak about ethics.....


everything that isn't made impossible should be considered ethical (besides hacking of course). all talk about the "spirit" of the game is highly subjective and therefor babblish.

There is a lot on this thread, from both sides, that I agree with.
I think the one clear thing here is the lack of rules and guidelines.

In other games, the maker/creators are very clear on what is and what isn't allowed.
NOW> I am NOT saying anyone has done anything wrong, there is enough debate here already.
My point is that clear guidelines or rules would have prevented this situation and many others.

One thing I've noticed since I got up this morning and started reading "all of this" & PM's - I'm certainly not going to add tho the general debate - is that the one thing this game really lacks is clearly stated and defined rules.

I bet if I asked most of the Director's of Agencies they couldn't find for me where Ben has written the 2 subs per player per Agency rule? I bet they couldn't find the 24 rule about switching agencies either?

Nearly all of this would never have happened if we all knew where we stood, instead of going on hearsay and innuendo, instead of going with unwritten rules and moral codes, that exist for some and not for others.

People could get excited as they like, but if a player could point to the rules and say 'hey, look it's there in black and white' no-one would have a rejoinder except to complain about the 'rule' and not about the 'person'.

And if someone was to say that's why they like Sleuth because of the unwritten code of honour, well take a look around "We aint in Kansas anymore Toto"...

Ben I'd like a Games Rules Board.

(apologies if there is one and I've just never noviced it...)
