I was just perusing the weekly high scorers (wow! you guys are amazing...) and was wondering just how it is possible to complete so many cases (200+!) in one week. By my count, 7X12 is 84, plus maybe another 4 favors per day - that still only makes 112, if you solved everything. Where are the other 100+ cases coming from?

I’m not sure there can ever be a level playing field. Some people have more time, more money, and some people have simply played longer. Given that this is a game in which people have been playing for years, it seems like the best way for detectives to measure success is in personal accomplishment and in the competition against others in similar situations and with similar goals and playing styles. The diversity in playing styles this game allows is one of its greatest aspects.

Echoing a comment made by Crunchpatty earlier, high score boards really only reflect how much time individuals and agencies can put into the game. After a certain point, they no longer reflect skill level anyway.

Being a fairly new player and on the top 30 list prematurely, I didn't realize how unhappy it would make some people feel. I have two detectives and I have used one to "feed" the other to "rack-up" my experience points. Not because I wanted to insult others or deceive people into thinking that I was a better player than them. It was more of the competitive nature of mine. I never saw it as unfair or unethical. In addition, I have received free cases from agents who have been either on vacation, working long shifts, computer problems, or many other reasons that they were unable to do their cases. I'll do cases on my own from time to time but alot of them are done in a "quick" fashion just to see the experience points rise. I don't claim to be the most skillful player and I guess I didn't really look at it like that. I was here to have fun and make friends. When others congratulated me, I thought they were being sincere. Not because I'm some great detective but because I have put a lot of time in. Obviously I was wrong!!! Wow, I feel like an idiot now. This is the first time since I started playing that I actually DON'T want to be here. If there were a way to take my name off of the Top 30 list, I would do it. It isn't worth what I'm feeling right now!!! I was just trying to have some fun. I apologize to those who have been offended or who feel cheated by how I have played.

Kelly - I'm reluctant to speak for anyone else, but you've talked about putting in a lot of time, and I think that in terms of congratulatory words from others in the community, you can take these at face value simply because we all know how much genuine effort it takes to play both your detectives' cases in a day. I'm not especially skilled at sleuthin' either and I rarely play all of my daily 12, let alone an additional 12 for my adopted character or favours for both! I very much respect the work (read: unlaziness!) represented in the fact that you do :)

There is one thing that strikes me in particular reading all of this. It's quite clear that this issue has been around for quite a while - much, much longer than I would have thought. I mean geez -Nikkie is talking about working on building experience from before there were AI cases (so clearly the whole playing field took a little shake up when the top case value went through the roof), and, if I'm not mistaken, the daily limit then was fewer too right? I'm sure I remember reading about it being 10 dailies at some point, and maybe even fewer before.

Whatever - the point I'm making is that since this is an issue that has history, someone WITH history should have made Kelly, or people in her position, aware that others might find using cases other hers and her doubles', as she says, "unfair or unethical". Community, friends and fun are, in my opinion, the driving thing here, and it's the responsibility of senior players to make junior ones aware of how different approaches might be received by others.

Agreed Crunch, and very well said. I have PMed Kelly privately about this, but also, to post publicly, as I said before, we've all worked extra here and there. Kelly is within a reasonable amount of where she should be with the restrictions I suggested, and I do commend her hard work in getting there as well.

I wholeheartedly agree with Biggie's statement, and have also PMed Kelly in regard to this, to clear the air with her.

ERF TEAM no longer exists, and you can look at the AGENCY HIGH SCORE board for verification. All I wanted was to give a real-life take on how an actual agency would work - clients come in, they get their matters handled, meaning regardless of how many cases and regardless of which agents solved them. Yes, this is a game, but if one throws themselves into the role, these are murder cases, and we've been hired to solve them. Period. That's what we did in ERF TEAM - we solved murders! I'm sure the site will be much friendlier with me (yes, I'm saying ME!) out of the picture, so enjoy yourselves. To those who don't hate me, thank you for your companionship and conversations, and you'll always know how to find me!

My second agent, Noeticist, is now retired, and in 3 days (just to make sure I get all my pm's), Chronestrian will be gone. Break out the pinatas, party poppers, and champagne....you've won!

Carrie, I agree with your previous posts and can only say "ditto" because you expressed it so well. This game has so many different levels of enjoyment and personal goals - it's not just about numbers. I have had high numbers (because I worked my behind off, by the way), I also enjoy the missions, little hidden jewels (bark!), and meeting other detectives. My personal enjoyment & satisfaction isn't really affected by what others do, but I seem to be in the minority on that one.
Chron, I am deeply saddened by this turn of events. You have obviously put so much of yourself, your time and energy into this game, and now you are leaving for good. You have been kind & helpful to me and to others, trying to help new people "learn how to learn" in this game. I am sorry for the other agents in your firm also, I know this is hurting all of you. I for one, at least, will NOT be celebrating...

Well, I'm not too worried Chron. When I learn what the rules are - meaning those that are set forth by Ben & Sunny - I abide by them. I wish you the best also, in where ever life takes you.
