Number of physical evidence

On the various sleuth community pages, it says that from Incredibly Hard and above you get four pieces of physical evidence, but is that always right?

I'm doing an almost impossible case and have detected three pieces. It's possible that I haven't detected the fourth (even with smart clothes worth 18) and it is in fact there, but has anyone ever found three pieces and they all match suspects with real alibis? I think that sometimes there are only three pieces of physical evidence to find.

you can get 3 or 4 pieces of evidence on AI cases :)

OK, thanks. Is that true for IH, RH and SH cases too?

Yes Evita, also true

And I can't swear this, but I'm pretty sure that if you have all your PE skills, you will always find all the necessary evidence, so even if you get three, thats all your supposed to get for that particular case

Out of interest, I've always found that when I only get 3 pieces of evidence I also get the lower number of suspects.

So, on IH if I find 3 evidence I only ever find 8 suspects, on AI if I find 3 evidence I only ever find 10 suspects. Has been a long time since I played the other levels in between so can't say for sure if that holds true for those also.

I will mention here just opened a case for an AV hunt.

10 suspects, 3 PE

Looks like "Geddes Theorem of 3" is holding true in my field research.

Geddes Theorem of 3 does seem to bear up under field testing. 3 times today has worked.
