Does ABANDONING a favor affect faction standing?

I read the text that says COMPLETING the favor doesn't affect your faction standing, and I know that its accurate.
But I have a favor now that is negative for Eastern Triad that I am trying to impress -- if I abandon the favor, will my standing go up?

Ok. If that is the case, then it only makes sense to do the favor. I would do it for the faction point though -- I'd like to finish up my business in London and get home -- I'd give up the 80 xp and $1600.

Wow, I'm so very glad I did this favor.... I just noticed that my favors got bumped up a level and I got a nifty new hat that I can actually use! Its a little feminine for my tastes, but I'm willing to do drag if it helps me solve cases better...
