I would suggest to go with the interview skills first, then the rest of smart and only later the faction skills.

Am I reading that list wrong? Get research!!

don't bother with the tough skills for now, you're not tough.

Research > flirting (quick cheap pick-up) > Intermediate rule bending and inter sweet talking > advanced evidence skills > advanced rule bending & sweet talking > stress detection / judge of character > hypnotism > tough skills.

I will agree with SS here after he points out that my glasses must be very dirty to have missed that.

Research is a skill that every detective should have to start.

It totally eliminates one suspect so you do not have to ask any questions of that person.

theres no use of having sweet talking and interrogation if u dnt have judge of character agent-1 , its like they cancel each other , it might be obvious that for women u should use sweet talking and interrogation for men , but i have those 3 skills ( intemediate interrogation, sweet talking, and judge of character) and it proves that theory wrong sometimes , so if ur not gonna get the judge of character skill , then i suggest that u concentrate either on toughness or on charm , in my opinion , the crime seen isnt that important , its enuf to get witness evidence with a fake alibi and uve found the killer
but i really dnt know if u find out to whom the footprint or handwriting or hair or watever belong , and this person has a fake alibi, if u are able to accuse him , and thats my question if someone can answer me :)

Eddy:

Liar/no alibi + PE = guilty
Liar/no alibi + WE = guilty
WE + WE = guilty

PE = physical evidence such as foot prints
WE = witness evidence

so its quite correct to say that the crime scene is not as important as having tough skills and sharm skills

charm* sorry , btw , i had a detective b4 this one , and i had concentrated on toughness , advanced intimidation and advanced interrogation , and my interrogation adjustment from buying stuff was 5 , and still there are some that clam and stay clammed after trying to convince them to be more cooperative , wat if i had physical evidence on this person , wat do i do to make sure that hes the killer or not ??? , and can i really have 2 witness evidences on 1 person from 2 different people ?

Yes you can get WE from one suspect against one other suspect.

There will be 2 suspects that will give you WE against the guilty person, and (at least ?) 1 suspect that will give you a WE against someone who has a valid alibi.

What about groups? Which one should I help? Order of Socrates, Cosa Nostra, brotherhood of the something or other, etc?

I feel that the factions all are a wash. I never drop a case because of them. It is often quite easy to get in good with one when you want to learn a particular skill or buy a piece of gear.

Just to review:

+1 to talk to them
+10 to open up treasure hunts (must be subscribed and in an agency)
+25 to learn the skill that faction teaches
+30 to get the best price on gear
