To solve or not?

I've been trying to get in with Arcanum, and doing pretty well at it. Only I'm not sure I want it anymore if I'm not going for pickpocketing. But of course there is the item discount and other things that might be valuable down the line, I have been contemplating that umbrella.

So I've figured out my last case of the day, but it will DE-crease my standing with Arcanum, and IN-crease my standing with Cosa Nostra, who I really don't care about -- whereas if I give up the case, I'll increase my standing with Arcanum.

I'll even get paid this time, because my client is not guilty. My gut says just solve the thing -- its only 2 standing points difference. If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

Solve.

The points with Factions even out in the cases you work. The way to go up or down is by doing the little jobs each day. Or getting help from those in your agency to feed you a few extra cases that are + in the faction you want.
