I know who did it, but he's gone into hiding, and I don't have underworld connections. I'm sunk aren't I?

This particularly sucks because I want to solve the case to increase my standing, or at least not push it the wrong way. Making a false accusation isn't an option either as I currently have two on my record and I'm trying to save money to get them removed!

So I must abandon the case, right? Is there any other option?

Go to the townspeople and there will be a new question that asks if they know where the person is. Hopefully one of them will tell you before they clam up.
