Those of you who are familiar with other online RPGs have probably seen that a common feature on most of the games is that the player is able to see either on a bar or on a point scale, how long it is until a skill/level upgrade. In sleuth, the only way of knowing when you will get a new skill point is to count the cases, and even that will not be an accurate measure.

What i was wondering is... would it be possible to get some bar/graph/scale to show us how long until next skill point??

I'm not in agreement with that. Sleuth isnt like any other RPG out there, and in my opinion, that would make it too gamish. I think how it is now adds mystery to the game, and challenge...and excitement when u DO get a skill point :)

So for me, I think it is just fine how it is. Good idea though! I just wouldnt like it for Sleuth :) Just my humble opinion!

I like the suggestion, actually... being a big RPG player in general, it's always a sense of accomplishment in getting that "bar" full time after time.

I agree with Reese on the uniqueness of Sleuth, but I don't agree that its uniqueness would be negatively affected by this idea.

Problem is... how to implement the "bar" in an essentially text-driven game.

well, there is a certain measurement that is capped at a certain level.

the maximum is 50,000 XP for one skill point, once you get there you know for sure when you get your next skill point.

However, it doesn't seem to be at the same pace for everyone. The faster you acquire skills or the amount of high level cases you solved seems to be a determinant for the stretch in which you gain your skill points.

I'm in ABSOLUTE agreeance with this.

It's a great idea... one I have suggested myself before. I would like to see that we explore this idea.

I have to stand with Reese on this one. I don't really see the need for it. I'm still waiting to see what goodies Ben and Sunny have in store for us with the rest of the expansion. I'm still gettting points on a semi regular basis despite being over 1 million exp. Sorry, I just don't see the point.

I don´t see a need for that.
As in many RPG there are hundred(s) of levels to go up, here you stop at AI and amoutn of exp needed for that is shown.
After reaching that there´s no higher level to go. Of course you need more skill points still, but not knowing when next one appears is part of the randomness of this game. Which I like very much. Now I know how many exp I need for a skill point but I remember how fun it was earlier when suddenly after a very difficult and moneytaking case a skill point appeared.
Like Reese said, Sleuth is Unique :)
It´s not a bad idea, but I don´t see the need for it, sorry.

I would like to see this feature - it could be nothing more than a counter on the detective page at the very bottom; where if you don't want to see it - you don't have to. For those of us who would like something to refer to - we could.

As with many suggestions made on these Message Boards, no - there is no NEED for it, we are just excercising our right as subscribers to put our ideas and opinions out there, just as are you who are in disagreement are doing.

I haven't read anywhere on this thread, where those in disagreement of the idea, is saying that people dont have the right to post ideas or opinions for the topic on hand. :) People have the right to agree, and they have the right to disagree. It's opinions, not arguements :)

This is not a game. We are real detectives. People are being murdered everywhere. You suggest that experience is a tangible number you can hold in your hands and count. Experience comes with learning. You cannot quantify it. Every night I return home to my apartment or HQ depending on what city I am staying in and sleep not knowing what will happen the next day. Will I be murdered in my sleep by some common crook in Delhi? Will another desperate client come looking for my services? As for the mention of this idea of "posting in threads", the only threads I have heard of are the ones I find at crime scenes. You people speak as if you do not live in our world, like perhaps you live in the future and are peering into this world for hours at a time.

I agree that Sleuth doesnt need a skill bar... but i ask you this.. isnt life full of inventions and innovations that people didnt need, or didnt think they needed. What would the world be without people taking a chance on something new, people taking the plunge into the unknown..
When Electricity was discovered... did people think they needed it? NO
When the car was invented.. did people think they needed it? NO
So i say... let us all be innovators, let us all be risk takers and let us all take the plunge into the unknown....together!
