Hey guys, I have a question...
At the moment, I have Advanced Intimidation as well as Advanced Interrogation, and suspects almost never clam on me, even in the hardest difficulties, but I always seem to have a problem with townies clamming... My gear gives me a +10 toughness bonus, and I'm working on getting pugilism right now, but the townies are always so stubborn.
Any ideas of a. why this is, and b. how I can fix it?

pugilism will help the most the only other thing is tougher clothes good luck

Better tough equipment and pugilism will help. Also, you will get one PE contact who will never clam up on you..should help also.

Part of the "why is this" question is that there's an extra skill - intermediate interrogation- involved in talking to suspects that isn't there for townies. The chance of getting someone to talk is based on the total skill points invested in a particular trait like toughness or charm, before you add the gear/clothing adjustments in. So in other words, in order to get advanced interrogation you actually had to spend something like 11 additional points on the intermediate skill, which are factored into your chance of success. There's no intermediate intimidation, so no extra boost when talking to townies. Makes 'em tougher!
Yeah, it took me like 3 months of staring at my judge of character numbers before I finally clued in to that one...

Ah, thanks Patty, I never noticed that I didn't get an intermediate intimidation skill. :P
I'm working my way up with the Green Hand as we speak, and have 12 skill points burning a hole in my pocket so hopefully I'll do better in a day or so. :)
