There are two common requests that we can tackle simultaneously. The first is that people want to submit their own picture to use as their detective's avatar. The second is that there are not enough different suspect pictures.

So, if you would like to submit your own picture, I can set that as your avatar. In exchange, I would like to add those pictures to the pool of possible suspect pics. I'll set it up so that nobody else will be able to use your picture for their detective, but your face will make appearances in the various cases in the game.

I don't want to automate the process because then people will upload all kinds of junk that would detract from the game.

So, if you are interested, send in a photo of yourself to
ben@hypotheticalsoftware.com
I'll take care of the cropping, resizing and desaturating. By sending in photos, you are granting permission for use in this game.

My message above sounded wrong. I want to clear it up. First off, the reason for delay isn't on your end because you were fixing to add our photo's when I told you to wait because we wasn't sure if we wanted to or not. Anyway, we've decided we want to use our own, so whenever you can add them, we appreciate it. Thanks guys, and I'm sorry I didn't word it corretly. You two are the best.

"It only takes a couple of clicks to change colour photos into black and white..."

Just a hint for you that want to go the extra mile...
In your Photo program (Photoshop, PaintShopPro, whatever), after you click to turn it to greyscale, go to "Brightness/Contrast" or "Levels" and play with them for a bit, to beef up the shadows and highlights, to make them look a little more like a real B&W pic (Real B&W have more defined shadows and grades than colour....) It really makes it look better.
Also, if you REALLY want to age it, a bit more, go play with noise in the effects, then sharpen, then blur, repeat a few times until it looks good to you.

How long does it usually take for the pic to show up on your avatar? I sent mine about a week or so ago, (not that I'm rushing, or being impatient)..just wondering when to expect the change.

I depends. Maybe a new featured mystery is coming up, maybe Ben is upgrading the server, or maybe Ben and Sunny are out on a date :D
But soon, and probably ASAP, there just might be more pressing issues to deal with first.

Yeah Ben and Sunny have been very busy moving. It shouldn't take as long as next time though. As several people have offered to volunteer to help.

Is this still allowed? I would definitely like to submit my picture. The pleasure of busting myself would be unsurpassed.

It's always allowed. I personally sent my pic in some time ago. Ben, where is it??
