***DISCLAIMER***

I know Sleuth just undertook a HUGE expansion 2 weeks ago. This is by no means whining or complaining.

I just happened to be rolling around ideas in my head recently about things that would make Sleuthville even better.

1.) Slight modification to the travel system for Villain hunts. Currently, it takes X amount of cases to travel to a new city. If you do not have X cases left, you can't go. Pretty good system, except in the case of Villain hunts. Hypothetically, one could have 25% of one's caseload available for the day (3 cases out of 12) and not be able to do anything at all case-wise because the next leg of the hunt is in a 4-turn-travel city. Those 3 cases become completely useless. I suggest that the travel system change slightly, so that a detective can use their remaining cases to initiate travel, and the travel completes upon server reset, with the remainder automatically subtracted from that day's caseload. The only real addition would have to be a Ship/Train page where the detective is essentially in limbo for the rest of the day.

2.) Villain-counter for agencies. Similar to the areas where you can see how many treasures an agency has collected. Either count hunts for the agency a detective is a member of at the time of completion, or have a running total of all villains caught by all current agency members.

3.) A new useful "twist". This twist would involve a Larry-the-toe-type character, who would offer to put in a "good word" with a random townie if you solve the case. This "good word" is optional at end of case, and results in the next available favor going to that townie. An interesting shake-up for treasure hunts, plus an extra useful twist... (Continued)

4.) Bonus Cases. Essentially, a separate cache of cases that can either be granted to detectives, agencies, or both. In the case of a detective, these could be won through board contests, given away by admin, and/or earned through certain gameplay means such as XP, villain hunts, AI cases solved, etc. In the case of an agency, they could be given out at certain fame milestones, hunt success, or doled out automatically on a timed basis (1 bonus case/day, for example). These cases are separate from the daily case load count and do not count against it. They can be stored indefinitely and used any time a detective is available to start a case. These cases would could toward favor accrual and Villain hunt clues, but they would also automatically be of the highest difficulty available and not file-able (like villain hunt cases). You could also "store" bonus cases. At the end of any Sleuth day, unplayed cases could be converted to bonus cases at the rate of 4 to 1... i.e. a detective with 5 unplayed cases would get 1 bonus case, a detective with 8 unplayed cases would get 2. These cases would only be transferrable if they were Agency bonus cases, in which case a director could give them to a particular detective.

5.) I would like a pony. I've been really really good all year.

Thank you for letting me air my suggestions. Fire away.

Uhm. Serges, sorry old chap but AL Z is ahead of you in line for the pony. He has been there for quite some time, wanted it to be a tough pony as well that he could use to threaten townies. Your ideas seem logical to me, though i am not sure how the bonus cases would work. Things to consider at any rate.

lol yeah I'm in for the pony... and I'll call her Buttercup :D

Ilike all of the ideas, but I think out of all them the one that doesn't actually gel with me, is 2. Because the AV hunts are an individual thing. I'm not sure of the worth of having a stat that's not 'Agency based' if you get my drift...? It might look great to have, but it doesn't reflect the work of the 'agency' per se. As you say it would have to fluctuate to accurately reflect who's in the Agency at the time... But lol that's just my reflection, and in the greater scheme of things, hey why not :)

New ideas are always good :D

But he deserves a pony, too! :)

Well, I'm all in with Serges, but may I add a *slight* suggestion?

Well, I think that it's a bit silly to see retired gumshoes still tracking down arch villains when it's quite obvious that they can't anymore. So, when a detective retires and they're hunting an arch villain, why not just fail the hunt? It's pointless to look at the "Active Villain Hunts" page at City Hall and see a retired detective listed there. For all I know, they could be there forever!

Anyway, I believe this suggestion makes a lot of sense. If the problem is fixed, then I'll be happy. But I'm happy right now, so if it's fixed I'll be even more happier than I just am.

I'm so glad Serges is back!
I like all ideas. My favorite is the travel/cases left thing. This has happened to me already that I have 2 or 3 cases left and can do nothing. It is a bit frustrating.

And I absolutely want that pony. I'd name her Tinkerbell..cause I'm girlie.

I see your point about the hunt-tracker, S.S.
I guess more than anything it would be a "bragging rights" thing for agencies.

Upon further thought, I realize way too many problems and exploits would happen if my suggestion of "storing" bonus cases came about. But I think the rest of it would work fine...

I'd like a pony too. And I'd name her tinkerbell just to make andreaX happy.

I do like the ideas, especially the bragging rights for the agencies.

*knows where you Serge can get a totally pimped out pony with a Thundercat tattoo, but ain't saying nothin'*

I am COMPLETELY in favor of a slight modification to the travel system such that leftover cases could be combined with the next day's travel time - this would be useful in non-AV situations too. I think most of us have solved a hunt case at one time or another only to learn that the next fave was in a city we couldn't reach that day. I don't look at these table scraps as completely useless...just slightly less appetizing.

Yeah, but I'm a bottom-feeder :S

I like SergesĀ“s ideas too.
A villain hunt "Trophy Room" could be nice.
The bonus case seems a bit complicated.
And that travelling idea is great too.
