Everyone raise a glass for Steve! The Crocodile Hunter will be sadly missed by millions of people. As an Australian living overseas, I used to watch his shows to remind me of home, and to teach other people about a beautiful country full of amazing people and creatures. I am deeply shocked and saddened by such a tragic accident. Australia could not have asked for a better ambassador. He was a bloody legend!
Cheers Steve! We'll Miss You!

It was a shock, he always seemed almost invincible. My deepest sympathy to his family.

As an American fan and scuba diver I loved Steve's shows. I am shocked and saddened by this freak accident. To think of all the dangerous animals that he handled, and that he was killed by just a simple non threatoning stingray in an accident. A truly sad day. My sympathies to his family.

My heart goes out to his family. His wife is from my neck of the woods. From a fellow Oregonian, Terri and the kids are in my thoughts. When I did watch TV, his show was one that I watched regularly.

I feel for his family and for my friend from HS. One of the guys I went to school with, I found out through classmates.com several years back went to work for him on his show. I don't think he was on camera, I think he was behind the scenes, but he left everything here in America to go down under to work for Steve Irwin. He was quite happy there.

Oh my! I learned about it just this morning and I wasn't too fazed... but now I realize that saying 'Crikey' won't be as much fun as it used to be. I think that would be like taking Steve Irwin's phrase in vain or something ike that. And I would hate to do that. I lost my remote, so I was flipping from channels 65 to 28, and I saw the Crocodile Hunter, watched him for a few minutes and bust out in tears!
WE LOVE YOU IN HERE GEORGIA, STEVE!

I never heard of Steve Irwin before, but he made the news in Belgium. Too bad it's for an occasion like that. I don't know the guy but after hearing a short biography I'd like to think that men like him don't die in bed...
Anyway, a promising life definitely ended too soon...
on a sidenote, it scares me how many dangerous animals inhibit Australia's waters.
