When I loged in today I had some private messages but when I began to read them they disappeared. Why would that happen?

noooo not another PM problem. Time for In and Out boxes.

Have you been able to get PM's before?

Is your Pop-up blocker turned on? That should be off. You'll find that in your browser's options.

If you've gotten PM's beforhave you recently upgraded your browser ? You might have to check that the pop-up blocker option hasn't automatically turned itself on again?

Do you have virus protection software installed, or have you upgraded recently? Either way check your Virus program options to see it if has a pop-up blocker. Norton's does.

Try sending oyurself a PM! Go to Send a private Message in City Hall and type your own name in and then send yourself a message. See if you get it or not! It might just be a once off glitch.

And... that's about the best I can do I reckon off the top of my head.

Anna did you try to send your self a message to test?

What virus & spyware program are you using? Which ISP? In another thread we discussed not using web accellerators.

Feel free to send me a PM with the details rather than filling up the thread here. So far I do not know of anyone we were not able to help get their messages working.

The good news is that all those messages are just waiting for you to be able to see them and the floodgates will open once you do.

Also... I don't know if ths is still an isssue..??
But with an unsubbed detective, if you log on when there is too many people and get the subscribe screen, any PMs you reciveved used to flash up them disappear. I don't think you can then get them when you log on again.
Ben may have fixed this with the expansion, I don't know.

Thank you for pointing this out I was not aware there was a problem for unsubbs that was different than subbed other than just simply not being able to log in at all.

I am a subbed detective and I have issues with the PMs as well. I'm sure it is my computer but when I recieve a PM , Internet Explorer locks up and I have to shut down the internet window and log back in to Sleuth.

An In/Out message system would be great. When you reply to a message the message you are replying to is lost. Sometimes there are conversations I would like to save. For example, when the directors are discussing strategies for improving the agency. To SAVE the message then start a new one for the reply can be done, but it sure would be nice just to hit the reply button and have your outgoing message saved along with the original.

I agree that the PM system could be tweaked :D I'd love to have a folder with your sent messages!

Roamie, I know it's not what you are asking for but might help a little in the meantime.
Hit Save on the PM and then backspace on it and reply. It means you can save it and reply without going back to your detective page.
HOWEVER>... if you have more than one PM up at a time, this doesn't work :(
