I have created a sleuth miracle!

IT IS THE UNHIJACKABLE THREAD!

Go ahead and try, but this thread is about anything and nothing, all at the the same time!

This is the place where Al can talk about world domination, Crunch can worship David Hasselhoff, SS can try and find even more complicated questions for his pub quizzes, Nikkie can advertise for Tim Tams, cfm can troll for more Sharpie victims, JR can beg for the chance to win Bobo back, and bedazzling can be a way of life!

So go off, rant and rave, talk about anything, i don't care, I just wanted to see my avatar on the page (when its actually me anyways)

So go ahead, I dare you all to try and hijack me :)

This is a completely non-hijackable thread, Non. Fortunately, it appears that many just see that title as a challenge. Unfortunately, laughing that hard gives me a headache.

HANCOCK, Michigan (AP) -- Robert Nuranen handed the local librarian a book he'd checked out for a ninth-grade assignment -- along with a check for 47 years' worth of late fees.

Nuranen said his mother misplaced the copy of "Prince of Egypt" while cleaning the house. The family came across it every so often, only to set it aside again. He found it last week while looking through a box in the attic.

"I figured I'd better get it in before we waited another 10 years," he said after turning it in Friday with the $171.32 check. "Fifty-seven years would be embarrassing."

The book, with its last due date stamped June 2, 1960, was part of the young Nuranen's fascination with Egypt. He went on to visit that country and 54 others, and all 50 states, he said, but he never did finish the book.

Nuranen now lives in Los Angeles, where he teaches seventh-grade social studies and language arts.

The library had long ago lost any record of the book, librarian Sue Zubiena said.

"I'm going to use it as an example," she said. "It's never too late to return your books."

State moves to strike out 'idiots'

January 09, 2007 08:49am
Article from: Reuters

NEW Jersey is to consider cutting the word "idiot" from its constitution so that people with some mental disabilities won't be barred from voting.

State Senate President Richard Codey introduced a bill today to remove language designed more than 150 years ago to prevent people suffering from mental illness or handicap voting in national, state or local elections.

Senator Codey wants to eliminate a section that says "no idiot or insane person should enjoy the right of suffrage" and substitute a reference to "a person who has been adjudicated by a court of competent jurisdiction to lack the capacity to understand the act of voting".

Senator Codey, a Democrat who was previously acting governor of New Jersey, said the term "idiot" was outdated, vague, offensive to many and might be subject to misinterpretation".

He said individuals with cognitive or emotional disabilities might be capable of making decisions in a voting booth, and those people should not be discriminated against.

"This is another big step toward removing the stigma of mental illness," Senator Codey said.

The proposed changes will be included in a constitutional amendment which voters will be asked to approve in a statewide ballot in November. It must first be cleared by the state legislature.

Despite the fact this is a fair and reasonable procedure to advance the rights of of some of the most marginalised members of our communities, I can't help but think:

Ok so for 150 years the idiots weren't able to vote, yet they could be elected!?
