I hope there is a delete option to allow me to reuse detective names that I have screwed up in the past. Having this should also allow the game to do some housekeeping cause I believe the number of inactive detectives by now should be enormous.

Yes, I'm in total agreement with LED, cfm et al too :-) Let's keep what we have and keep looking over our shoulders all the time.

Things are back to normal now.

But... "inside jokes" are fun, too, for the people inside them. Maybe not for the general public, granted, but it's still nice to keep Sleuthville's histroy present...

As much as I enjoy going back in time on my own, I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of seeing a lot of the old threads being brought back up to the top, UNLESS there are new threads being created on the subject.

There is a lot of wisdom in the old threads that newbies would do well to read through. Explanations of why things are the way they are, what changes have been made to the game, etc. I spent a great deal of time in them when I first started here. (Once I got past my intial boardphobia.) :)

As for the inside jokes, most of us are happy to fill you in if need be! :D

We will not delete old threads. We like having the history around.

Old threads do not take up much space on the server.

The Newbie Board is there for Newbies, and while it would help them a lOT to read or think before asking questions, it's merely a fact of life. It is a shame they don't read the Newbies FAQ and cfm's post as 99% of the time their question will be answered. However, sometimes it's just easier and quicker to ask a question that has been asked before. It's also a way for them to get their name out their and start communicating with other players.

Katie, you have a right to think they are boring, as I have a right to find Nancy Drew and Charmed post extremly mind-numbingly dull.

There is always an option of 1) creating you own post or 2) not reading them or 3) bumping up posts that do intrest you.

Police Station post, I like a few others that have PMed me, found this hilarious. There was no "in" joke. I simply cracked up when I saw the title as we have a million detectives, a million more croaks and no police station. I understand if you didn't find it funny.

As for other posts, such as the freebie list or why did you get your detective name, they're good posts that deserve bumping up and people have posted new threads. Others such as thank you to the Mods/Admins are bumped up as there is no point in creating a new post.

Also, it's ironic you mentioned "in-jokes" part of where "in - jokes" come from is the history and KNOWING the history. Through post history and threads, I've come to get to know the community better AND understand any jokes.

I do agree with cfm, about bumping threads up for the sake of it and I have bumped up a few threads to bury posts that I found aggressive and annoying. It was merely a silent action that did in fact, have the intention I wanted.

Sorry for boring you Katie, I hope to see some new, creative posts in the future.

At least nobody is BUMPING up Nancy Drew and Charmed post. Thank goodnes. If someone wants to read old threads, the history is there and they can read it if they want to.

It seemed like alot of old threads were being bumped up last week and it wasnt necessary. Keeping the history in the past and remembering it is great. Continuing to re-live the good ole days not so great.
