The mysteries are randomly generated, so it's not possible for us to refer what you're saying back to a particular case. If you're having trouble, you might want to try:
1) Playing through the beginner's tutorial, on the main case page; and/or
2) Reading through the newbie FAQ, link on the bottom of every page; and/or
3) Reading through the Welcome Newbies thread in the Newbie Questions forum.
Once you've done this you may find the game more understandable; if not, ask any specific questions you might have and we'll be happy to help you out!
