I'm fairly new to sleuthing (14 days) - it seems like the more I play the slower I am to earn any skill points. I try to play 10 cases a day, at the really hard level - I might get 1 to 3 points a day if I'm lucky. Is that normal?

Being in an agency allows you access (through the other players) to more contacts than just yours. As for money and points, sometimes other detectives will solve cases and file them for you to accuse. In my humble opinion, being in an agency is the only way to go. :)

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll start searching the message board for recruiters!

Hey Hawkeye,

Being a new player like yourself I have two pieces of advice:

1) Join an agency. You won't have to quit as many cases because when you get stuck you can file them and let one of your teammates with a contact un-clam the townie or suspect that ended your hopes and dreams of solving the case.

2) Once you are in the agency, do the hardest level cases that you are allowed to by your experience level. You get more skill points for the more difficult case levels. On your own, if you try this you will have to quit a ton of cases, which won't help you at all. But if you are in a good agency (By good I mean full of friendly, active players) then the teamwork will really get you far. Part of the reason you are advancing slowly is because if you aren't doing the highest level possible, the game seems to know it and limits your ability to get skill points.

Believe me, the game is enhanced by a lot once you are playing in an agency. I've made some excellent new friends and it makes the game a lot of fun. Plus I haven't even started on the fun of treasure hunts, which you can only do when you are in an agency.

Oh yeah, you can also store STUFF in an agency storage closet, and the agency might let you have access to better stuff than you can get now which will also enhance your ability to solve cases.

The solo gumshoe is a lonely gumshoe!

Have fun.

Man, you've given me tons of good advice and counsel! You're right about working solo on the highly difficult levels - sometimes people clam up before they answer one question (and I'm an advanced interrogator! :D ). I plan to join an agency - and I will be working my boots off every day - can't wait to get involved in treasure hunts, arch villain pursuits, etc.

Thanks and keep sleuthin'
