Unacceptable Sleuth Behaviour

I've been playing Sleuth for almost a year and the reason for that is a really great, tolerant, caring, generous community that strive to help people out.

I know agencies are always helping out other agencies and that agencies at time s have donated gear and money to a new agency to help them out.

I think that's why it really pisses me off when people take advantage of this situation.

I know it doesn't happen that often which is amazing itself.

However, I find when people join an agency and are given gear or money for a specific purpose then leave and start their own agency this is totally and utterly unacceptable.

I also think that people going around and begging for subscriptions is pretty unacceptable too. Especially when Sleuth is well-priced and secondly is not (*GASP*) an acutal need for our well-being.

I know that people including Blue and I have given out Gift Subscriptions before but ONLY because the people were great, friendly and nice and never asked for them!

Anyhow, I just needed to rant and get it off my chest. I'm sure there's other unacceptable behaviour too. And none of us are perfect.

All in all, Sleuth is such a great community with great people and Ben, Sunny and the Mods, and most of the community work hard at keeping that way.

^^That's right^^

There is network that will warn other agencies of detectives who take part in unsavory activities.

Once you have lost one agency's trust, you won't be hired by any big agency every again.

Yes, it actually reminds me the of "black lists" in the United States during the "Communist" trials.

Once you are on the list, it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to be hired.

It's probably possible to be hired, but less possible to *stay* hired.

Yeah, I've heard about this recent case as well...proof of the network's existence. How juvenile can you get?

I know! Before people in my agency quit (they do after a day or so) they steal stuff from the equipment locker and sell them. Doesn’t matter if there new, it’s still wrong after I tell them.

One can only hope that these rare individuals who do these things learn from the ostracization they incur. The problem is there is really no way for us to know. As in this most recent case, the person's detective has been retired, stripped, and unsubbed. Who are they now? One hopes that they have learned a lesson and will not come back to try to repeat the mistake.

I hate it when people beg for gift subscriptions. Other Sleuthers give out gift subscriptions because they are kind and did it because they chose to. They shouldn't have to be hassled with people asking them," Will someone please give me a subscription?" with puppy dog eyes. If they want a subscription so badly then get one by themself! Don't go saying that you don't get an allowence. Scrimp and save.

Thank you Blue, for giving me a subscription back in Janurary.

It is rare that you find a site where people show their true colors. I know that every now and then we have a few bad apples that float to the top of the barrel, but there are a whole lot more of you that truly shine like the stars you are. It's people like you that make this a great site!

I happen to be a new player, and I was really surprised by how welcoming the community is and feel really lucky that I was recruited by Hitchhikers:NY (Thanks Jane!)!

For new players stupidly thinking of ripping an agency off, I know for a fact that I've been helped along to the point where I'm playing and successfully solving Very, Very Hard Cases in only a week because of the advice, and in rare cases where my natural super-genius has been hampered by stoopid clamming witnesses, some excellent teamwork has helped me solve the cases rather then having to Quit them.

I felt good about putting an Exquisite Pipe in the locker and contributing to the agency that's allowing me to do fun things like participate in Hunts. It definitely offends me to hear that other players have been given the same priveleges and are selfishly ripping off the agencies.

Here's what I suggest for staff in future. If you find a player doing this, put them in a virtual room with ME for an hour. I assure you they will never be the same again!
