Hello everyone!

While working a favor under another director's account, someone else logged on and did not see my name listed as being online. When they subsequently logged into the director's account, the favor was quit and they worked another case. This is not the first time this has happened to me, and I am wondering if there is a way to notify someone that someone is in the account currently when they attempt to log on? I have lost many a case this way...

Password sharing is allowed or you could not do it.

No good site administrator will ever say that password sharing is recommended.

There are some in the community who are against password sharing at all, while many others think it is part of why we have a well knit community here. We all trust each other in our agencies, work with each other. In part because many of us have shared like this.

you have got to be careful about who you share passwords with, (something similer happened to me)

Welp, the culprit was me. Biggie and I, along with everyone else in our agency, were working a big hunt.

We all had the ok to work this director's account. We were frantically trying to get ONE elusive favor. I logged in as myself, checked to see who was online, and saw that I was listed as logged on along with a couple other people (I think). I took for granted that because the account in question wasn't showing as logged on, and others were, it was safe to go into said account. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and I completely screwed up the favor biggie was working.

Soooo, I await my punishment. :(

Ya know, I love ya, biggie!

There is no punishment you donkey, it wasnt your fault :)

I usually click a couple times or check the See Who's Logged On link on the City Hall page to be sure, we are a little overzealous with the logins when we're on a big hunt ;)

Solve the problem, don't allow password sharing. Force agencies to work together to solve a treasure hunt, instead of one person bouncing from account to account in order to use the favors of those accounts.

As a member of Hitchhiker's: NY, I would be pleased to introduce to Biggie528 a chat program called: Trillian

It really was named after the Trillian character from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, heheh.

The benefits of Trillian, which is a free program, is that it recognizes most chat programs and if everyone is using Trillian, no matter what else they have, you will all be able to chat with each other.

Bah. I didn't even tell my own agency members about it. We're using AOL dang it.

Link to Trillian, one of the best chat and file transfer programs available: http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/

Hope that helps.

Trillian is a wonderful program. The free version works nicely but if you upgrade to pro the plug-in capabilities are very nice.

Alternatively Biggie you could have a site set up for the agency like several of ours have done. We use those chat rooms for people who can not get on IM because of other issues. PM me if you need details.

Hey R. Trillian has been mentioned, but I don't think it's compatible with Mac which Ara uses, and I also don't think she can get into the chat room that our agency does use. Oh, what should we do with Ara? LOL j/k Ara, ya know we love you.

Biff, our agency works very well together. There are times that one of us may be away for an extended amount of time, or just away from the computer for a bit. The detective who's account this happened in was away for a few days, and we had permission to use his account for this kind of thing. I think one of the reasons that we do work so well together is just that; we just do. :-) We all have a mutual trust and respect for each other and want to do what we can to be the best agency that we can be. :-)

Well, we use AIM to avoid those problems and to work with each other during hunts. Password sharing IS how we work together as an agency. We can't all be logged in at once (we work, go on vacations and get sick, just like everyone else) and it is the best way to advance hunts.
